Poland is a member of NATO and under certain rules if a NATO country is attacked it is the duty of rest of the members to come to their support. Since Russia is obviously in a state of war with Ukraine, unless it can unequivocally be proven it was an accident then it could possibly be seen as an act of war against a NATO ally.
If countries like USA, UK, France etc do declare it is an act of war then we got WW3 on our hands.

It hasn't got me worried.
I wouldn't be so sure about Putin, but I am hopeful there's enough people around him who don't want WWIII that they won't let it happen even if he completely loses sight of reality. There's a reason old men with superiority complexes should not be in charge of countries but it happens again and again. The thing is once these people are in power they will never give it up. See also Xi Jinping who's essentially dismantled his party's "one party rule" in favour of "one man rule".
