Biggest 3rd Gen Girl Group Song Confirmed

  • With D4 getting 200,000,000 certified streams in Korea first, it ends all arguments. It's just maintained its popularity for so long, unlike other songs in the discussion.

  • D4 and hylt are the biggest kpop girl group songs period.

  • the song with the worst chorus makes no sense to me

  • not really, certifications started in 2018 so all songs released pre 2018 won't get certification which mean all 3rd gen big hits pre 2018 could hit this milestone too already but aren't getting a certification

Songs released before 2018 still get announced when they reach the certification amount, they just don't get the actual certification. For example, Spring Day was released in 2017 but every time it reaches a new certification amount (200m streams etc), Gaon/Circle still announces it.

No girl group song in Korean history besides D4 has gotten to 200m streams.

Pre-2018 songs get announced once a year, so there is the distinct possibility that other songs have done it before D4, we won't know until the next update for pre-2018.

thats not true. they announce it whenever it happens for example they announced spring day reaching 200M in june and spring day reaching 300M in december

Pre 2018 songs get announced every month, or at least every quarter based on the evidence, if one song hits a threshold; usually later in the month than the 2018 and later songs. It just doesn’t look like every month since it’s becoming more and more rare since most songs that would hit those marks already have.

    For example:

    Spring Day 200m - announced June 2019

    Spring Day 300m - announced December 2021

Blood Sweat and Tears 100m - announced August 2018

    As If It’s Your Last 100m - March 2018

Playing With Fire 100m streams - August 2017

Considering these are all different months (and in 2018 the same year with different months), it refutes your point. Seems you just want to discredit BP and the song.

  • Yet only twice's cheer up was #1 in the year's ending charts, the only 3rd gen group to place #1 iirc

blinks are the most delusional fandom ik that, but seriously?

Google the biggest hit song by a 3rd gen gg and non stans will tell you it's cheer up

it was used in presidential elections and everyone including old people know it(unlike ddd; you think they would enojy the cringe that are jennie and lisa bragging about how skinny rich and cool they are?bffr). Cheer up is considered as the cultural pop phenomenon like gee

So your stats don't mean a thing

After the hype, no one has listened to or cared about that song in years. That’s why In over 6 years, compared to 4 for D4, Cheer Up still can’t reach 200m streams.

The last time D4 charted on Gaon was this year. The last time cheer up charted? 2017. After the hype faded, so did the song (and twice as a group for that matter).

d4 had more competition, and in time it clearly has proven to be the bigger hit since it was released later and yet surpassed cheer up in streams

placing n1 doesnt mean the song has the best longevity, missA was n1 one year

    nobody cares for that now

  • Yeah #1 can have huge impact for a week and flop after that.

It's also highly dependent on the time of the year it's released.

that's true, most yearly number one songs are released early in the year, and cheer up was one of them
