Do you think SM should reconsider how strict they are with their idol's image?

my initial question is actually "should SM let their idols write their song or choose their own project" but the thing is i know they don't do that because they want their artists to hold onto very specific designed image or brand. we know about the infamous seohyun and her acting proposals. various times their solo artists say how hard it is to propose an album idea. certain idea of promotion they want to do but get rejected because it's "unbecoming" of them.

in the age of social media and rising of self-made brand, should SM listen to their artist, trust them to know what their fans like (and buy ofc), and let loose with their preconceived image?

they don't for their younger groups but for their older ones they do.

well i personally feel like they get such creative freedom because they really fought for it. those groups have worked hard to get where they are now with the company, and even though they get some creative freedom on their songs the management SM imposes on them is terrible. there are also some other “older groups” that are in the same range as exo, particularly girl groups, that still don’t get much freedom at all.
