Hyolyn is stuck with the sexy-sassy image, but that image is a disadvantage when idols get older, the audience of that image will always go for the younger fresher entrants. She did not reinvent herself enough to shed the image.
The usual "soloist from a done group" and general challenges of soloists in K-pop applies to her. Even for Taeyeon it did take some years to overcome that. Other ex-group soloists are doing no better, including from SISTAR.

It's a difficult market for soloists who come from ex groups and it looks particularly harsh for the second generation idols.
She sticks with this image for the most part and I think that it's her choice because she created her own label. Her songs are still diverse. Waka Boom does not sound like Dally which does not sound like 9lives.

It is a difficult market for soloists - period.
Ex-group soloists actually have it better than pure soloists, at least they have the recognition from group days as an advantage.
Her choice sure.. but won't work. BoA and Hyori as well, have the same problem.
The diversity or the quality of the songs, don't matter much in 'perception' driven industry like K-pop.

I didnt vibe with her recent EP but these ones are absolute bangers for me
