What is the reason 2NE1 has such tragic post-disbandment career compared to Wonder Girls, SNSD,..?

2NE1 was the digital monster of 2nd gen, I am the Best made noise globally. But their career post disbandment has not made any progress. Meanwhile other girl groups we still have Sunmi, Suzy, Yoona,… making noise.

It’s because of their visuals. At least CL could’ve potentially had a career like Jessi but she deemed herself too good for Korea and tagged after Jeremy Scott instead and squandered any chance of solo relevance anywhere.

They weren't marketed as visuals and SK has always been obsessed with visuals. CL had a chance but he preferred western industry.

Minzy. Never really had any popularity even within the group. Zero activities so has no presence without the group name.

Dara. What is there to stan from her? Not an actress, CF star, singer or anything. Her popularity came mainly from her looks but never capatilised on them like Yoona, Suzy etc.

CL. Tried and failed in America which also affected 2ne1 CBs. Her solo music while in 2ne1 sucked. She also said some very controversial things about Asian women.

None of them had a strong stable career during 2ne1 so there was nothing to sustain them post 2ne1. Compare to SNSD less popular members like Hyoyeon or Sunny: while in SNSD peak they were very busy having their own shecudles (music and TV variety for Hyoyeon, TV shows and varreity for Sunny) and they're still doing the same thing even when SNSD was on hiatus for 5 years.

BP individually can of course get by without YG no matter where they go. Their popularity is huge.

Bp as a group without YG is basically useless. YG created their entire image and sound and without teddy they struggle to have decent music because they’re not decent enough singers to perform songs from RV, Itzy, IVE or SNSD etc which require a lot of harmonies and singing instead of BP doing mainly rap and instrumental choruses.

Exactly. She thought being a shiny new toy for a western company was all it took to succeed in the US and completely abandoned Korea for years in favor of western relevance, not to mention she has made some statements that clearly show she thinks Asian women are inferior to Western women so naturally Korea is an inferior market for her too and she turned to western validation instead, which led to her killing her chance in all markets.

What? Hyoyeon and Sunny are nobodies in Korea. Most of SNSD have been forgotten. Taeyeon and Yoona are the only girls with any cultural relevance.

All of SNSD have shown they’re very relevant. You have to be delusional or living under a rock to deny that.

Taeyeon and Yoona wreck of course but the rest are bigger than 90% of other female idols. The actresses have commercial and or critical acclaimed dramas which most of them have won awards for. There’s not many idols that have achieved that level of success and certainly not as many in from one group like SNSD.

Tiffany went from rock bottom exit to being one of the most in demand for tv and hosting. Most other idols who get into scandals have their careers finished (I Bom was mentioned earlier who don’t forget was having solo hit songs before even Taeyeon did) but Tiffany is thriving.

Hyoeyon does the occasional variety show and gets high ratings for her appearances and very good reception for being funny. Not many idols are praised much for their variety skills these days but Hyo is.

Sunny is the undisputed go to idol for tv. There is no other idol, except maybe Leeteuk back in the day, that appears regularly on a ton of different shows.

Someone above draw reference to BP. This problem is more or less overcome by Blackpink nowadays. Each of the girls actually gotten themselves big brand endorsement and some solo CF and music. They are in much better position.

Visual is another factor + bom's scandal kinda crushed the group's momentum after CRUSH.

What do you mean proof? It's literally obvious for anyone keeping an eye out for SND news or doing some basic Google. You're either incredibly obtuse to ignore any news of them to undermine them or you've been into kpop for maybe a year and don't even know SNSD in the first place.

Yoona has won or been nominated in a few best actress awards. Recently nominated as best actress at blue dragon awards 2022 for her movie Miracle. Exit was a smash hit movie with her as co main actor

Soo has won or nomaited for a few awards award in the past. Nominated best new actress at blue dragon award 2019 (which doesn't make sense since she's not new but whatever a wins a win) and won discovery of the year at Jecheon International Music & Film Festival 2021.

Yuri did Bossoam which got 10% ratings on MBN channel becoming it's biggest program of any kind. She got best actress for the role at Asian Artist award 2021.

Seohyun hasn't been nominated or won anything significant out best new actress for Good Thief, Bad Thief 2017. Private Lives on Netflix was the number 1 watched program on Netflix Korea during most of its run in 2020

For so called mediocre actresses they sure have a long list of regular works and surprising number of awards. Like I said otger groups barely have 1 member be that active or sucesful as an actress, SNSD has 4.

Hyoyeon rating for her appearance on radio star 2021 was 6.5%, one it's biggest in years because it's been ina huge slump for a hwile (Twice made an appearance a few weeks earlier and recorded one of the lowest ratings). Weirdly she's even been on online shopping show Hyo Boss 2021 (basically like QVC) and was the number 1 most watched shop related stream/show on Naver with over 400k total viewers for most eps. She is also semi back to world touring as a DJ.

Sunny has multiple appearances on TV shows. I can't find an extensive list or ratings as there's so damn many but I guess something like this tweet thread is the closest and that's only for 2021 so it's not even complete/up to date. That's a ton of TV shows for 1 person, like I said she's the number 1 idol to ask for TV appearance.

Jessi while having a popular show is just that, 1 show. She's not popular enough to be in regular demand to be appearing elsewhere. Now she's left she doesn't seem to have any future activities.

Sunny and Hyoyeon also went to Qatar a couple weeks ago to record TV shows to promote the country for the world cup showing their demand in TV work.

So yeah you can try to undermine SNSD all you want but at the end of the day they still very successful and busy in their particular fields and far beyond 99% of other idols who maybe have 1 or 2 idols on the same level as even least popular member like Hyoyeon let alone IT girls like Taeyeon or Yoona.
