Seulgi solo debut is just like Luna all over again

People pushed her to release solo album for years. When she did, they didn't make the effort to support it.

Yeah, what a pity. It also doesn’t help she didn’t release a gp friendly and catchy easy to listen to title track like the other 3rd gen girls. Nevertheless her solo suits her imo.

I also think a lot of kpop fans token stan Seulgi but don’t have her as their number 1 female idol. So that’s why she doesn’t have a lot of hardcore fans?

i was also wondering about this because the album is so good and it's like an extension of Psycho. but there is no support at all. it's such a shame

I don't think Seulgi is token stanned. She is a person who excels at everything and she gets a lot of respect. But she doesn't do anything to bring attention to herself except through her work, and her fans don't orchestrate drama. So I think a lot of kpop fans check out her projects but there's no visceral "must stream, must support" reaction because she doesn't connect that way. She's like the chill girl you see at college who you think is cool but you're not obsessed with her.

It's one of the top selling female soloist albums of the year. How is that not supporting her?

SM force fed her and Red Velvet down everyone's throat in this past week's Amazing Saturday and Knowing Bros (with Crush's appearance and playing RV songs at every turn) and got her every promotion opportunity.

But seems like people aren't buying it.

nope, her sales were more frontloaded. Only had bigger first day sales.

She completely tanked. Very surprising and not a great look quite frankly.

She's got one of the best selling album of the year, fans really did come through for her.

Luna in comparison barely sold anything, she sold around 10k on Gaon.

As for charts fans can't do much about that, the public listeners vastly outnumber fans by millions and millions so it's up to the public whether they like the songs or not. Most idols flop on charts anyway, even the likes of Sunmi or chungha who had massive hits couldn't keep it up for more than a couple years. Not everyone is going to be the next Taeyeon.

Sometimes the most techinically proficient member is also the least interesting.
