Why do most 4th gen groups lose hype in a year?

  • In a year, Aespa goes from being mentioned as a revolution with lore music to now being called flops compared to newer groups. People thought Itzy would compete with Blackpink when Dalla dalla smashed but when Not Shy came a year later their hype already died down. StayC wowed people with Asap but they’re not even discussed now. Even Nmixx’s O.O, though controversial, got talked about a lot while people forgot Dice in a day. Txt/Enhypen not even 3 years old yet there’s already no hype for their releases. Stat-wise, for example, Txt/Enhypen/Itzy latest comeback did much worse on Spotify than their previous one. Why do groups, which seem so promising at some point, became not exciting anymore just a year later?

  • For girl groups it’s the Blackpink curse. Get compared to Blackpink and say you end them. You flop. Maybe that’s why I’ve and newjeans are thriving, there are token stans but I don’t see their fans saying they are #1 gg like mys last year.
