Is 4th gen topping the charts rn because of Blackpink?

Such high number of ULs was never achieved since 2019 on Melon and there was no indication so many girl groups would be reaching such high peaks now like 630k ULs like IVE.

Did Blackpink's cb announcement give all these other groups boost because of the competition? No one would be motivated to stream so much and compete it it wasn't for BP's success with Pink Venom where everyone tuned in for them and only after other songs started gaining ULs too because people were curious for these other songs after checking out Blackpink.

IVE has been doing fantastic even before BP announced any comeback and NJ blew up before BP comeback.

It could also be argued the BLINKs are worried about 4th gen besting BP, so are pushing BP hard.

However, there is definitely a bandwagon effect when multiple groups do well, "casual" listeners will tune in and listen more, benefitting all of them.

But it is delusional to ascribe that effect only to one group - particularly when that group was not even in play, when the boom of high charting started.

Even leaving out the behemoth ULs of Bigbang, this year itself Tomboy, Love Dive were doing very good numbers long before BP.

Delusional. This makes no sense at all. Attention was a surprise release and IVE have been doubling their numbers both in sales and streams since debut each comeback.

If BP wasn't near, blinks would say that 4th gen ggs are only doing well because BP isn't around.

Yes. Anyone with a brain knows that the influx in uls rn is due BP coming back along with big songs hitting. People are hyped because there are multiple ggs with big hits at the same time and on top of that a top act did their comeback. Its the same thing that happened in both April and June with BB getting Tomboy, FMR and LD to new peaks and YTC making the other 7 songs blocking it grew in uls.

Love Dive only peaked at 470k UL though. It was an oddly low number for such a popular song, look at Tomboy with 550k, Attention with 570k, Pink Venom with 505k and After Like with over 600k.

if you put pink venom at 505k you have to put attention at 575k too because that’s its real uls peak. it’s only fair

With this logic, we can also say it’s because of newjeans because only after newjeans’ debut, 4th gen GGs reached highest ULs, Blackpink is also reaping the reward because of newjeans otherwise their ULs will be way lower. See? We can go either way depending on our bias.
