Gong Dohyeok - remember the name!
The high school student found the man (50s) passed out at the gym at their apartment complex, called for help, asked the people there to call an ambulance for the man and used the emergency kit that the gym had to try and help the man.
He had learned CPR at school and learned how to use an emergency defibrillator, but the defib was old and stopped working after one electric shock and the boy continued performing CPR on the man for 30 minutes manually while witnesses said he was sweating and crying.
The ambulance arrived and took over and took the man to the hospital and he was saved and discharged after 12 days in good health. They attributed his miraculous recovery to the boy's efforts and acknowledged that without him, the man would not have survived.
Dohyeok has undoubtedly saved his life.

The wife of the man whose life the boy saved wanted to give him an award, but he refused and said he just did what everybody else would, which is selling himself short as he was the one who immediately went into help mode and knew what to do and how to do it and due to his valiant efforts, a man lives today.
So the wife didn't give up, and contacted his school and said she would like to give a scholarship to the boy and when the school found out about it, they decided to give a merit award to Dohyeok. When news outlets learned of the situation and contacted the school, the deputy principal said Dohyeok was a really good and well-behaved kid even at school and that they're all rooting for him to achieve his dreams and becomes a professional baseball player.
The paramedics also awarded him a heart saver certificate!
Dohyeok is a sophomore at Seongnam high in Seoul. He has been thrust into fame for this and has used his time in the limelight to encourage everyone to take CPR classes and learn CPR.

He has also stated that because a human life is precious, he had a strong desire to save the man and worked on adrenaline through the situation.

He has also received Dongjak District council commendation for his heroic actions.
If there ever was a moment I've wanted somebody to succeed in pursuing the career of their choice, it's this kid. I've found articles about him from even before this where they praised his skills so I really do think he's on his way. Modest, hardworking, kind, skilled and a hero!
