I dont watch chinese period dramas as most of them seem to be fantasy/wuxia, non fantasy ones seem so rare, I have only watched Pear Princess (its very old 1998 drama lol), and also Scarlet Heart 2011 which I really loved, havent watched any recent historical period dramas, maybe I will try it again comfortably, the main lead actress Zhao Lusi, I see her in lots of period dramas, she must be really demanding actress lol

I watched it. It's basically my favorite Chinese drama to date. I already love Wu Lei and Zhao Lusi but what I love more about this drama is how well made it is. The director has such an eye for camera angles and is artistic. Episodes 43 and 48 are pure works of art. This is Wu Lei's best performance up until now.

The drama has no sponsors and little marketing and still managed to cross 7B views as of last week. It's the best performing drama of 2022. Well deserved!

You are thinking of Cang Lan Jue. That has Esther and your wife should watch. Wang He Di is so beautiful in it.
