As a blink, PV era is not as big as HYLT era

  • HYLT felt more like a proper comeback. They definitely interacted with fans a lot more since they started promoting immediately, had weeks worth of music shows, a reality show, and even a Summer Diary. The teasers were better too, the hype when the first set of OT4 photos dropped >>. Also, a lot of people expected BP to flop after KTL + the long hiatus so HYLT's success was more unexpected and exciting. But everyone kinda knew that BP would do great this time around, so even though the Spotify/YT numbers and pre-orders are a lot better this time blinks and even non-fans are less impressed. I also feel like the song is blowing up less on TikTok for sure, probably bc they chose to do YT shorts instead for some inexplicable reason.

Dropping your pre-release and then filming the MV for your title track the next day is a choice...I think blinks would be more excited about PV if it had dropped in July and not so close to the album, so they would have had time to actually promote properly. We all know that Sunday is the end of PV era, they will surely move on to album and tour prep next since they will have just over until 2 weeks until Born Pink drops....

  • Lol, looks like a you problem, everything here you saying its based on subjective opinions. HYLT went down in streams by 8th day while PV has stabilized. The only metric that HYLT has above PV now is youtube, which is due youtube views falling apart and korean charting which is fine considering the no promo and a promodependant system

  • They will promote when the alb drop, relax

  • This comeback is all about the records. The next one will be for the fans.

  • You're right.

Most of us Blinks have been so starved that we are hyping PV like it's their best song ever when really it's their weakest. I didn't think we were such sheep but this release has opened my eyes.

  • You're right.

Blinks want to beat BTS records.

  • Blinks want to beat BTS records.

Then Teddy should have fed us with a better song. We had all the hype, a perfect storm to smash records and we got this dud of a track. What an absolute waste.

  • HYLT was the peak of Blackpink. I feel like they have lost many fans now as they are finally exposed for how untaleneted they are and how much they rely on SEA streams. It's a downward spiral from here and I believe future releases will fail miserably.

  • D4 was their peak, HYLT did good but they are on a declining trend since. The only reason they managed those high youtube and spotify numbers was cause the streaming farms were activated to obsessively break BTS records. If it were not for the craze to beat BTS records, the song would have done much worse.

  • The hype was much bigger for HYLT. The numbers are great this time but it's because they were trying to break the records and prove a point.

I don't think the song will have longevity.

  • You're right.

Better late than never ^^ We non-sheep have always said that yg’s method of starving their sheep consumers works very well but blinks keep denying its effect and turning a blind eye to the obvious brainwashing. I’d feel pity for them if they weren’t so obnoxious 🤧

  • I do agree, but I still support them

  • The song isnt that great tbh. If they come up with a good song again, they'll have a bigger impact.

  • Now it's had time to settle, I think Pink Venom is a bit stagnant. The only thing that made it different was the reference to and sampling of other artists work.

From watching the MV and the dance practice I was reminded at different times from the song, the choreo, the fashions, the sets of Kill This Love, HYLT, Lovesick Girls (what it is with miserable Rose and the ink/paint?), Pretty Savage, and DDDD. I felt a bit irritated by the CA skirting (the instrument was Korean but the music wasn't) yet they won't touch Lisa's Thai heritage in a group song for fear of making knetz mad.

Someone on reddit made a post about how the biggest GG's put out placeholder songs this summer. SNSD, Blackpink, Twice. Songs that are very them but also very safe. As a 3rd gen fan (I know SNSD is 2nd) I have to admit 4th gen are doing more interesting things right now. Maybe 3rd gen is running out of steam. We'll have to see what Blackpink's album is like.

  • LMAO this thread is full of antis trying to pass as blinks, the whole sheep thing gave it away

  • This thread is full of antis pretending to be blinks, but I stand by my original point and agree with the person who said that Pink Venom feels stagnant. They needed to bring something new and exciting this comeback...but they just didn't. You can't tell me that parts of the choreo and sets from this MV are not identical to KTL, HYLT, and their solos. I don't think the numbers being great have anything to do with BTS though, armys just need to insert them into themselves in every situation like always. BP's fandom just grew a lot with the album. I never said the numbers weren't better than HYLT, just that the vibes of PV are worse and blinks just feel less excited

YG keeps teasing that the album title track is different from their previous releases and I certainly hope so. The hype for Pink Venom was never really there because everything was so rushed and people cared too much about records from the start, but I hope it's different for Born Pink

I don't know how you can say its the same when PV is our first sung chorus for a BP hype track, Jennie and Lisa aren't dropping words and let the instrumental keep going, they keep singing through the entire chorus, 0 moment in which music is heard alone

  • the music video for HYLT was much better than PV even with all the budget

HYLT was a more legendary era
