Whose solo did better in Korea, Nayeon's or Joy's?

  • I guess time will tell

which then raises an interesting question...

assuming Pop does as well as Joy's entire album but none of Im Nayeon other songs chart...

would one say then they performed equally as well or one did better than the other?

If u show someone the cumulative of the albums and if nayeon has bigger total with one song charting than joy with all bsides then it'll still be the album with bigger gaon points. It would still be bigger.

I remember seeing something like this about bts. MOTS7 did better with bsides yet because MOTS persona had boy with love, a massive hit and it ended up overtaking mots7 at the end for album cumulative on gaon

sorry maybe I didn't phrase my pondering correctly lol

I'm saying let's say only one song from Nayeon's album does well which is Pop and the total points for that equals the entire points for Joy's album (TT + bsides) so ultimately both albums have the same number of points (or similar) but for one person it's because only of the TT whereas for the other it's the cumulative TT + bsides...the question would be would one say they both did equally as well...

Having 1 hit song can give an artist opportunity for more exposure but i won't call both Pop! & Hello as a hit, they are more like a solid successful release like Somi's Dumb Dumb, Rose's On The Ground or STAYC's ASAP.

On the other hand having several b-side that charted even though low at first can give an artist advantage later in their career with good b-side reputation. The ultimate goal is to be like IU or G-Dragon & several artist that kinda have that reputation are AKMU, Blackpink, Bol4, etc. People will check your b-side & with that they have higher chance to chart & receive small success or even becoming a hit song.

my thoughts wasn't that either song was a hit (or not - that's a topic for another day lol) but rather if the total points were equal but one got it as a result of one song whereas another got it because of the entire album...

    nevertheless I understand your perspective
