Why do you think the public don’t care for NCT members at all?

They have 23 members, are talented/good looking,… yet none has any relevance with the public. Exo members like Baekhyun, Chen, Kai,… all have more relevance with the public than any NCT members. Why so?

Baekhyun, Chen and Kai have 4 years career life on NCT members and they all made solo debuts and had lots of solo promotions through collabs and OSTs.

literally not a single NCT member got as many opportunities and promotions as the EXO members you mentioned and yet they are holding on just fine.

Nct are pretty popular in korea, you can see that by their domestic sales and concerts

of all 4th gen groups, nct members are the most known among the public tho

Most people don't like groups with too many members and sm are adding even more members...soon that's not helping

yes they have no national hit or real recognition to gp compared to top 3rd gen groups but shoving them into 4th gen isn't going to change that

The Chinese members are ment to be popular in China, not sure if SM promot NCT on China, maybe NCT Dream. And Exo members, even the Korean members are very popular in China

Their biggest competition and most fanwar energy is spent within the group between 127 and dream. Various members have asked the fans to not be such solo akgaes. Group is designed to promote competition within the system and thus designed for short term buzz and long term failure.

it doesn't matter what generation NCT is from, they are a special case and they will outlive the generational system. Yes, they debuted in 2016 but another unit debuted in 2019 and another one will likely debut this year and they will likely debut another one in the next 2 years etc. just get over this useless discourse already.

They have members amongst the most searched idols on Naver and Google in addition to trending frequently on Twt and selling out products. Jaehyun was just named as Prada brand ambassador while Doyoung appears in popular weekly TV shows and kdramas. In fact, Jaehyun's influence was cited as part of the buzz that boosted Prada's fashion week. Haechan and Taeil launched highly successful OSTs - in fact Taeil's OST is the second highest NCT-related song on Melon, remaining in the top 100 for months and he's not even a popular member. Johnny's not even a popular member but mainstream non-pop sites couldn't stop talking about him after the Met Gala.

From most metrics, Jaehyun is the most popular member, while other members are also popular depending on the country. Yuta is big in Japan, Taeyong internationally, while Doyoung and Jungwoo in Korea. Winwin is gaining huge popularity in China with a steady stream of high-profile CFs plus movie and regular TV shows.

thats all well and good but it doesn't really address the nagging feeling most people have that NCT is LSM's most expensive disappointment to date. Some of the members are clearly talented and have star qualities, why all the NCT system bloat to distract from that talent? Literally what have been the advantages so far?

Taeyong is well known to the public though, especially after his stint on street woman fighter

Doyoung is on master in the house so he is as well.

Mark was voted second in a poll after yoo jae suk as celebrity the public would like to invite over for christmas dinner, I also keep seeing memes about him marrying that member of winner on pann/korean tv.

I'd say they have pretty good GP relevance actually - no need to worry about them.
