Yes we are all happy that Girls flopped but Midzys better not get brave

  • Y’all are celebrating a #8 position on Melon? That’s still a flop. Imagine if Blackpink had a comeback that only charted at #8 they’d be the laugh of the entire Kpop industry.

  • bruh sneakers rise wouldn't be a flop to anyone and atleast ITZY didn't go from PAKs to barely staying in top 10 in just one comeback

dalla dalla was a big hit but not NL national hit level so it's way more embarrassing and shocking to see aespa's fall in SK

  • KTL peaked at 2 yet people called it a flop. Now where is this energy for Twice? that thread in the main rubbed me the wrong way, how are you unflop Twice and call Kill This Love a flop?

  • why do we have to put girls into the talk? just enjoy sneakers it is a weird song that got good numbers just be happy.. or is it about aespa?

  • I agree but most gg stans seem to never learn

  • You guys are so evil and would never like Itzy flopping or not. So spare them the preaching when you’re in here on the daily talking crap. Take your own advice.

  • What’s this? A high school fight?

  • To be honest anyone who calls a song going top 10 "flop" is kinda stupid. Hell everything in the top 100 or even 200 is a decent charting song. The actualy flops are those outside of the top 500 or 1000

What thread in main exactly are we talking about? I was reading main but didn't see a thread where this was being discussed.

To answer the question generally, it has something to do with what people are expecting of a group: if a group has been written off due to a chain of badly charting songs, then a Top 10 position is seen as good. But if a group has had PAK's and megahits before, and then merely has a Top 5 position then this is seen as regression.

This explains why a #2 spot might be seen as weak for BP that had consistent top charters while it might be seen as great for TWICE that experienced a series of weaker charting songs.

Same for ITZY and Aespa, where Girls is seen as a step back from their previous strong charting songs while Sneakers is seen as a step up from ITZY's previous declining trend in charting.
