So Exeter just exploded a WW2 era bomb and it still not the craziest thing that happened this week.

    That kind of sums up how 2021 is going. We find a WW2 era bomb, and the reaction is mostly, yeah its just that kind of year (shrug).

  • I mean, what else would you want them to do? It's not safe to move it. It's not safe to leave it there, what if a child runs across it? The other option is just blow it up and make sure there's a safe containment zone, which is what they did. It's actually pretty common to blow up un-contained munitions as the best way to deal with them (basically all airports have a room specially designated for blowing up suspicious objects). They just picked the easiest and safest option here.
