Are digipacks responsible for the massive sales these days, or is it a global growth thing?

  • Just wondering. I mean, you gotta admit that album sales in k-pop have been insane this year, from rookie groups to 4th gen groups to even 3rd gen groups, album sales have gone up and up!

But what's behind the huge jump from one year to the next, especially this year?

    Approved the thread.
  • Bulk buying is the reason.

  • Aespa digipack ibly got like 12k sales… I think people are vastly overrating how much they help

  • digipacks have definitely helped many 4th generation girl groups there is no doubt about it and bulkbuying has increased a lot this year

  • This year is the digipack, back in 2020 was the global growth and 2021 was cbars. You can see how no group is doing noise internationally outside of BTS, BP, Twice and Ive/Itzy to some extent

  • It is a global group thing if you can see them chart in various countries’ album charts.

If you cannot see them chart, you can kinda confirm that sales are from kr or china only.

  • They are indeed the main reason

  • Digipacks certainly helps a lot esp if members have a huge dedicated fanbase in china, i heard the bars within groups try to one up others and results in higher sales overall

  • Mostly bulk buying from China/Japan. With 2 million versions for each album, the bulk buyers are having a huge impact. Digipaks definitely help offset the cost limitations.

Companies are strategizing for maximum numbers based on these 2 factors.

  • Shut up about digipack already. Itzy normal albums are 1 dollar more than aespa. Now, that's the catch. Why don't guys go create a thread about it.
