Are ads and paying for ads on everything going out of hand?

but the fact that anyone can pay for some ads to promote their stuff,its not a good thing and it will only help people to spread misinformation,regarding important scientific stuff

regarding stuff like this ig its alright,promo and all that,but when its about more serious stuff "antivax" /scientific facts and all that,yeah i think they should implement some laws or something

lets be honest most people are not using academic research, majority of universities offer free access to academic research, and most databases grant accesses to the conclusion but not the data so people can find summaries for free.

Now there are two types of people who use academic research people who are only looking for what they believe in or people who are too smart to use only first thing that pop up. Overall dont think order will matter much for these two types of people.

Your work, data and methodology won't matter at all, whoever pays more will get more visibility.

Some weirdo can publish an anti vaxx paper and pay alot of money to promote it. When people search for the topic that paper will always show on top.

This will be also a disaster for sociology and data science papers.
