Blackpink was way ahead, they normalised hiatus

3rd gen is dead! Long live 3rd gen!!

not in the slightest

it would be very funny if BP ends up being the 3rd gen surviving group into the 4th gen peak. People were fast to think they would be the very first act to die due hiatus and theories of 2ne1 2.0, but now they outlasted BTS who will likely only return around 5 to 6 years after, when kpop has become a whole different thing and 6th gen is starting

3rd gen is still very much alive and around though.
BTS members will have solo comebacks and certain to be hits.
NCT and Seventeen are breaking sales records with every new comeback.
BP, TWICE and Red Velvet still have the most total streams in 2022, more than 4th gen groups.
TWICE had 500k sales for 2022 even without comeback, and they're starting solo debuts.
Red Velvet tripled their own sales with their last comeback, broke their own Spotify records and their song still charted well on k-charts.
3rd gen groups still outperform 4th gen groups in many areas, from album sales to digitals (Spotify ML, followers, total streams) to concert tours and international popularity.

Thank God. I already prefer the 4th gen groups to 3rd gen.

4th gen sucks with the exception of two groups at best

They are for at least 5 to 6 years, their age gap and no exemption of the millitary, will leave them out of the game until 2028 or 2029. At that point the hallyu wave will be in decline and most of their numbers won't be doing what they do today, its like Nsync came back in 2009 when everyone had setted careers and JT wasn't the hottest thing

They don't have to enlist like BTS tho. Solo projects are the only way for them to keep their hype and relevancy while others enlist to the military until they reunite again as 7. They have nothing that they can do about it.
