I don't see Jennie as Blackpink's leader

  • I think Jennie took the lead in answering questions during the Rolling Stone's interview, which is why they labeled her as such but tbh I don't see her as a leader

Rosé or Jisoo are always the one who speak for BP on award shows and red carpets. Rosé is a much more eloquent English speaker than Jennie imo - Jennie is not as good at expressing her thoughts and sometimes phrases things awkwardly. She does this in Korean too, and I think it is not a language thing but a her being awkward thing. As for in SK, Jisoo's speaking voice is picked on by Koreans but BP korean fans and translators have said she is very well-spoken and the best out of the group when it comes to the actual substance of what she says

In addition to being the one who speaks for the group, I think a leader is also kind of the person who looks out for the others. Jisoo is clearly the one who does this in BP. She seems to be close to everyone, and she's the only person who showed up at everyone's solo schedules even when she was super busy filming herself. I used to think her and Rosé were distant but now they seem to hang out the most out of everyone when the group is in hiatus

Everyone in BP except Lisa has some leader qualities - Rosé is the most well-spoken in English, Jisoo takes care of them the most and is the best at public speaking in SK, and Jennie is the one who mostly takes charge in English interviews and communicates things with YG. But I could never see Jennie as the de facto leader of the group as RS suggests so it makes sense to me that BP doesn't have a leader

    Approved the thread.
  • It's not just about speaking, a leader also has to communicate a lot with the company for the group, and it's obvious jennie takes the lead on that

  • why does it even matter anyway, I mean it hurt you so much that rolling stone called her one that you choose to write an entire essay about how she isn't fit as one lmao

they don't have a leader for a reason, each being great at their field and all contributing to the team, you are literally choosing to highlight the other girls ' qualities while downgrading Jennies, I could also list why the others wouldn't be fit as one for numerous reasons

you just don't like Jennie to be praised for anything and it's just sad, leave the girl be

bp has no leader and that's the end

  • and the way I know exactly who op is because they can never hide their disdain for jennie while acting like a blink loving and appreciating the four members ^^

  • I thought they didn't have a leader. :whatb:

  • I actually agree. Jennie is not an eloquent speaker at all, even now there is a fan-war going on on Twitter because of something Jennie said in that RS interview about rap and hip-hop that sounded off to me too when I first read it even though I know what she was trying to say

I think there's a reason why BP has no leader and they all have different strengths, it was interesting that RS chose to call Jennie leader based on her taking charge in an interview though

  • If you think she doesn't suit leader role you're not even a blink. Girlie is the communication bridge between the company and the members. There was an actual video of them having a meeting with the company officials and she actually looked like a leader.

  • No one is leader in BP, the girls themselves has said they all lead at some point, 4 leaders = no leader

And she is right. Kpop rap is not real rap and inferior to american black rap scene where it originated from. Kpop stans can cry about their favs writing few lines here and there and calling them real rappers, but they are and will never be real rappers.

  • I'm not sure why they let her take the lead. Jisoo and Rosé are clearly more articulate than her. Did they forget the Zach interview?

  • Hey Captain Obvious, BP doesn't have a leader. According to culture, Rosé and Lisa are disqualified because they are maknaes and foreigners. Jisoo has stated previously that they each have strengths in different areas at different times so they follow the lead of whomever suits the situation at the time.

The RS article didn't call Jennie the leader either. It said that sometimes Jennie feels like one. It's unclear if that's how the journalist feels or Jennie feels. Normally, Jennie would be the leader since she has seniority at YG and is the face of BP, but whatever. It's perfect the way it is.

Not a blink but i saw that interview and i thought Rosé was the leader. She answered the questions really well and seems very smart.

  • Y'all made this leader thing a competition too lmao
