"1 of 1" is SHINee's fifth album. It was released on October 5, 2016 with "1 of 1" serving as the title track.
The repackaged version of the album, "1 and 1", was released alter on November 15, 2016.
II. Background
SHINee had their fifth concert "SHINee World V" in Seoul, South Korea on September 4, 2016. They performed for the first time four songs that were going to be featured on their upcoming album. These songs were; "Prism", "Feel Good", "Don't Let Me Go", and "So Amazing". "1 of 1" was supposed to come out in mid-September. However, Onew had an injury during the concert leading to the release being delayed.
SM Entertainment announced on September 27, 2016 that "1 of 1" would be released on October 5, 2016, and also launched a new Instagram account for SHINee. This would be SHINee's first Korean studio albulm since "Odd" back in May 18, 2015.
SM Entertainment revealed the track list on September 28, 2016 which showed nine tracks. As the concept was 90's theming, a cassette tape version was released along with the CD version of the album. Only one thousand copies were made, but higher demand caused more to be put into production. A total of 50,000 copies were made.
More teasers were released from September 28, 2016 to October 2, 2016 on their Instagram account. The members also each talked about a song of their choice in the segment "SHINee's Pick - What do you think of this song" in a promotional radio notice.
SHINee performed "prsim" and "Feel Good" at the Spectrum Dance Music Festival on October 1.
SHINee performed "1 of 1" for the first time publicly in their showcase for the album at the SM Town Coex Atrium, and the music video was released on the same day. Onew couldn't participate in the dance sequences because of his injury, but it was confirmed that he got treatment and was close to recovery.
SHINee promoted "1 of 1" on different music shows starting on October 6 and guested on variety shows "Happy Together 3", "Weekly Idol", "Knowing Bros", and KBS World's "Guerilla Date".

"1 of 1" peaked on the Gaon Album Chart at #1, Oricon at #11, Billboard US Heatseekers Albums at #14, and Billboard US World Albums at #2. For monthly album charts, it peaked on Gaon at #2 and Oricon at #32. For Gaon Yearly Album Chart, it peaked at #14. "1 of 1" sold 170,681 copies on the Gaon Montly Chart and 172, 278 copies on the Gaon Yearly Album Chart. The total copies sold are 172,278.
