    I. Introduction

    "Zoo" is the second song on the 2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU Express album, featuring SM Entertainment artists. It was released on December 27, 2021.


    "Zoo" features the main and lead rappers from four groups: Taeyong, one of the main rappers from NCT 127; Jeno, one of the lead rappers from NCT Dream; YangYang and Hendery, the main and lead rappers in WayV; and Giselle, the main rapper in aespa. Taeyong, Jeno and Giselle also co-wrote their lyrics.


    The lyrics make mention of kwangya, which is a reference to the SM Culture Universe. Kwangya is the Korean word for wilderness. In the SMCU, it is described as an alternate dimension, universe or world where the avatars live.


    The song was originally performed on the SMTOWN Live 2022: SMCU Express @Kwangya Concert. Taeyong uploaded the dance practice to Instagram and TikTok and the song and its dance went viral on TikTok. SM released the concert stage as its own separate video as the video went viral.
