I. Introduction
Overdose is the third mini album (EP) by boy group EXO released on May 7, 2014 in two languages: EXO-K's Korean version and EXO-M's Mandarin version.
II. Background and Release
SM announced on April 1 that EXO would have a comeback on April 15, then later revealed to have a new album releasing on April 21. However, on April 18, the comeback was postponed due to the sinking of the MV Sewol. On May 4, the new launch date was revealed.
The EP reached over 600,000 preorders before its release, making it the most pre-ordered mini-album in history. This was the last release to include former members Kris and Luhan. The EP has six songs and two versions in Korean and Mandarin. The two sub-units promoted regionally to support the releases: EXO-M in China, EXO-K in Korea.

VII. Reception
Both versions of the EP were successful and charted across multiple countries. On the Korean Gaon charts, the EPs went 1 (EXO-K) and 2 (EXO-M) across the weekly and monthly charts, while in Japan it was #3 and #5 on the Oricon charts and #2 and #5 on the U.S. Billboard World Albums chart. The EXO-K EP also entered the U.S. Billboard 200, making EXO the highest-charting release for a male Korean act at the time and the third K-pop act to hit the albums chart that year after Girls' Generation and 2NE1. The EXO-K version also debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart, with the EXO-M version landing at #8. It went on to be the best-selling release of 2014 in Korea. The album sold more than 711,000 copies in Korea and 55,780 in Japan.
The lead single "Overdose" reached #2 on the Gaon and U.S. Billboard World song charts. The song more than 1 million copies in Korea in less than a year. All of the songs on both versions charted in the top 30 on the Gaon charts with four of the Korean versions in the top 10: "Thunder" at #4, "Moonlight" at #5, "Run" at #7 and "Love, Love, Love" at #8. All of the Korean versions also charted in the top 25 on the U.S. Billboard World Song Charts with "Thunder" reaching #5.
VIII. Awards
During 2014, the EP won a Disk Bonsang and Daesang at the Golden Disk Awards, UnionPay Album of the Year at the MAMA Awards, Best Album at the SBS Awards Festival, Best Performance at the Miguhui Awards and Artist of the Year (Album) for the 2nd Quarter at the Gaon Chart K-Pop Awards.
