Mnn, I'll quote you on that 2 years from now if you are still here. You are very welcome to do the same to me and if I'm wrong I'll give you your flowers. But I think you are in for a rude awakening. Newjeans could be twice as big as they are and the industry still wouldn't tolerate it. Good thing is we'll find out soon.

Looks like it's going to be even worse than I thought. It won't be an unofficial blacklisting, it will be a blacklisting openly endorsed by the entire KPOP industry to protect their own interests. It's no longer just NJ(MHJ) vs Hybe.

So in order of things (most likely) to happen:

    1. All brand deals will run out and won't be extended (already happening).

    2. Court case starts in a few months and during this time there will be no more content from them which probably lasts a year or longer.

    3. They'll probably lose the case and they'll be blacklisted from the industry.

    We'll see.

All signs point towards long drawn out legal battles. One that they most likely won't win.

As the years go by, they won't be gaining new fans since they won't be releasing new (expensive) songs and they won't be allowed to promote themselves. Perhaps media companies will unofficially blacklist them to keep a good relationship with HYBE. Business is business after all and KPOP is a ruthless business.

The fans will get older too and strong feelings that you once had will fade with time. Teenagers turn into adults in their 20s with their own worries. New groups will come and go fast and you'll find new favourites. I've seen this scenario played out before 15 years ago with a group even bigger and far more established than Newjeans.

Time is merciless and that is more true than ever in these times.

It could be career ending. The longer this problem continues, the worse it gets. Teenagers move on quickly especially nowadays. And as someone who just turned 30, time goes by fast.

Imagine this whole saga lasts 3 years with the whole lawsuit and everything. They won't release new music during this period. They will likely have very little performances due to limitations. Perhaps the broadcasts don't want to get on hybe's bad side so they don't flatput blacklist, but they'll "choose" to have other groups on instead of newjeans. Day by day their popularity will fade and the teenagers will go into their 20s. Life comes at them hard at that age and they will have other things to think about.

Long story short, the kpop industry is a pretty ruthless business and you have to stay active and visible otherwise people move on quickly. I lived through the DBSK break-up and lawsuit so I understand very well how that goes.

People don't even know, or should i say remember, how live vocals sounds like. They've gotten used to being lied and deceived by kpop companies and they go with it. Users on this forum also cannot tell what's live and what's not and want to brag about their faves perfect live singing. And when you point out that those were not live vocals they accuse you of lying or being jealous.

    Yes, it can't get worse.

Exactly. I might as well be a senior citizen in the KPOP community, because I started watching KPOP during the DBSK5 days. I never watched their MV's, only their live performances because it was actually live. And it was f*cking amazing.

Nowadays I try watching "live" performances from current groups and It's just... I can't take it seriously. It's literally 99% lipsync. And the worst part is that these kids and new fans in the comments all think it's live. They leave comments like; "these girls ate the cd" when it's clearly and obviously lipsync. It's frustrating. These companies have also really done a lot of work with trying to make it sound not lipsync by adding what I can only describe as a breath effect. Adding a little bit here and there to make it differ from the cd.

EDIT: Just to add some examples:

Back then and even now, when singers are not using hand-held microphones they're almost always lipsyncing for sure.

Clearly live with some lipsyncing parts: Full of imperfections, offbeat, volume differences(due to distance of microphone to mouth). Live is NEVER perfect and it's always different.
