I think it boils down to connections from big companies. SM is huge, and they are connected. Also count in how popular the judge is, and SM idols are all popular one way or another.
No one want Miryo from BEG or Yoon Mirae to be a judge of a rapper, but another idol from big company who isn't really specialized in that area will be the judge instead (just an example).
How much can your name attract the viewers. Sometimes it's not about actual skill, but brand name. Like everything else. Kpop, car, designer clothing, bags, etc.

I think because they have been on a very long hiatus. Coming back from it, you don't know the reaction from the GP, if they still love you or not. With incoming debuting from GGs too. So all the more to worry.

I think stan came from Eminem's song 'Stan'. It should be the origin of the definition (of course the word probably appear long before that, but I think the song solidified what it means). However time changes and people who did not know the origin and meaning of the word, uses it daily to say that they really really like the group.
If you go with the original definition of a stan, it essentially the same as sasaeng. So if you're a proud Stan, you're a proud Sasaeng, in which I don't think that's a good look. But again, the meaning of the word is being interpreted differently now since people don't know its origin. Even if you tell them now, they won't care and categorized themselves as not a sasaeng.
It's KPOP, people have selective decision.

But anyways, besides the point of some men are azzhole and uncouth, a person still got to do some self reflecting yknow. One or two ex-boyfriend who turned out like that is an unfortunate event. But if you keep dating guys of similar nature or is around those type, then you just look deep into yourself and really really think. Are there really only nasty guys in the world, or are you only attracted to those type?

I think the market right now, and always has been for KPOP, are super competitive. So many new groups debuting and GP are always fickle. Out with old, in with new etc. However I feel that ITZY has probably established a decent fan base already. So no matter what they still got people who will love and cheer for them. If they get new fans, great! But if not, I think it is also OK.
If you're a fan, support them if you can. Stream, sales, concerts, etc. MMM has a relatively mid-size dedicated fan base? We're not huge nor small, but we do support the artists as best as we can. Dreamcatcher started small but they have been gaining alot of love in recent years. Really really big fanbase are nice, but a dedicated ones are much better IMO.
It's OK if your artists aren't being mentioned constantly or in everyone's mouth, at least you know they are a good artist.
