Albums and touring bring in money, boy groups still generally have more dedicated fandoms that will contribute to those things whether you think so or not. Aespa just sold 1.6m which still only puts them even with the top bgs in their own gen, never mind the top bgs overall, and only one other gg (bp) has come close to that number ever. Half of those sales came from China too where they’re not even able to tour.
Plus, small, unknown company ggs are not in any reality attracting a fandom like bgs from the same companies. Ggs have to hit it big with the gp to get a decent start and that’s hard af when you come from a unknown company

OK, I see itzy unfiltered streams are out. It's not that bad actually consider all the flops we have recently.

With the confidence I’ve seen from some of their fans I thought it’d be at least a little closer to 1m

Female idols' songs are getting better and better but male idols songs get worse. If you look at the trend among male idols nowadays, they completely gave up on the general public and are all-in for growing their fandom. They are making songs full of weird worldviews and lyrics that only fans can understand, so it's hard for the general public to get into them and they just end up not listening to them. People just tune in to any song to listen to it casually but who would look for songs about so-and-so's worldview or concept?
This argument lost all weight since aespa blew up, same with the “noise music” stuff. Their lyrics are literally full of made up words. The general public doesn’t give a shit about kpop, they listen to what’s popular, which is why it’s so easy for popular groups to stay popular and so hard for unpopular groups to become popular. Really it’s more that, for most groups, they’re not unpopular but instead just unknown. This is why big3 privilege is such a big thing. Thank god kpop blew up internationally to give all these lesser known groups a chance at success

Actual preorders being a factor in how many stock preorders there are doesn’t mean that’s the number of actual preorders. Stores aren’t just gonna hold exactly the number they need, that’d be stupid.
It’s good that they’re pushing back against the hate bc it’s stupid and every group’s preorder numbers are stock preorders, but what they said isn’t true.

8. What's the meaning to sell over 1M when nobody knows you in the general public?
Kpop is bigger than korea, im sure the idols don’t give af who’s buying their shit as long as there’ll be money in their bank accounts

Seriously, how are they selling 2 million and not be considered popular???
Do you think bts sells 5 million with only Korean fans

It’s kind of silly how much weight the final round has. It makes the rest of the show feel pointless. Hyolyn probably has no shot at winning despite maxing points two rounds in a row. I would say Loona has a better chance even after missing a round which is lame imo. It was a problem in kingdom too, the boyz went from firmly in fifth to finishing in second bc of their fandom power in the final round, at least skz still would’ve won with no fan inclusion.
With that said, probably wjsn
