Part of it is the romanticization of mental illnesses. Whether or not they realize it, these people love having some sort of disorder because... well there may be a lot of reasons why. Some people think it's cool or fun.

Do you find that it's easier for you to pick up a language when you're learning by yourself as opposed to being taught in school?
Yes, because it isn’t nerve wracking to mess up. I don’t have to do tests or assignments and whatnot either.
To be fair though, I wasn’t the best student so that had some impact on my learning…

I used to actively learn French when I was in hs but it's been a while since then and it's definitely gotten rusty.
I took French in high school and almost failed it on multiple occasions lol

Not only faking it, but romanticizing them too. People romanticize some illnesses that I am diagnosed with and I feel as though it is harmful and truly hurtful.
