I wanted to be a contrarian jerk and dislike IVE for no real reason at all, and managed to stay like that all through Eleven
But I gave Love Dive a listen when it debuted just because and then that accursed prechorus chant thing got in my head and now today I realised I'd listened to it at least 10 times in one day and also Eleven is now my 4am alarm when I have 6am work shifts...
I have completely failed being a contrarian jerk and I'm all ready to go full Dive.

Why hold Kpop groups to ridiculous standards when local A List stars cant even do the bare minimum.
Because local A lists have more "privilege" than imported kpop does, so can get away with more.
"Oh Billie had a rough time, it's all part of her charm, haha thats just Billie, buts shes a star and shes rough so whatever"unfortunately, like others have said, a kpop act, which for some non fans already has a kind of "novelty act" connotation, doesn't get that privilege. One screw up and for many its "hah, typical manufactured silly kpop, dont have talent, lol told you so"
Its a ridiculous mindset, but its one I see a lot outside of kpop, in normie circles.

The concerns for lipsync with aespa is that they aren't even good at lipsyncing
If they lipsync, fine, just hope they've practised it a whole lot since last years performances and make it a lot smoother.
Also, while its cool they are doing coachella, SM is really throwing them in the deep end here. They have barely done any serious live performances or concerts yet, so their first major one is
1) in a foreign country
2) possibly outdoors
3) with a very large and generally a bit more "unruly" crowd that may not act as "respectfully" as Korean crowds
4) a crowd that may also not be as receptive to music not in English (big assumption to make I guess)
It's a BIG performance to do for their first serious live performance. BP at least had most of a world tour and live experience under their belts before braving coachella

This is going to be a real test for Aespa
Huge live crowd that is probably far less forgiving of lip syncing and boring or uninspired live stage performances. Given their rather uninspiring stuff in the awards shows last year...
Could be a bit of a make or break up performance for them

I'm not even gotten into 2ne1 myself or listened to them. But just seeing that image and I KNOW how awesome that must have been for fans of the group to see, how exciting and hype it must have been. It's such a great, iconic shot that tells its own story. You know that its something that fans who were there watching it will talk about for years. It's honestly a picture that can tell 1000 words.
(also, the performance was a banger and now I gotta go looking for 2ne1 stuff)

They're ok if two key criteria are obviously passed
1. No minors in the group. This is obvious but... some older AKB48 stuff... urghhh
2. All the members are ok with doing it and agree with it. As in not having their future in the group/industry threatened if they arent comfortable wearing certain outfits/dancing certain choreos. Seen some older 2nd kpop girl group stuff that is... very eye opening.

Because I've only been into kpop for a few years, and before then liked other genres of music where two years between releases was the norm, and for some groups it was more than that.
So waiting while being a fan isn't that much of a big deal.

I had a shower thought before.
If I were a high school bully, or part of a bully group, and someone I didn't like was going to debut as an idol/become famous, you know what would be the best way to ruin them and bully them even more?
Accuse them of being the bully and watch knetz take it hook, line and sinker.
