They are doing very well as they are imo.

Their music this time around is good, they are charting well and and they are selling well.

What really matters for longevity is that people enjoy your music (good charting) and that you are generating profit (sales, touring, cf). Ive check both boxes so there is no issue.

Being #1 and music shows are just for bragging rights.

Not when he copys her so much (and the creatives in the industry have confirmed it as severe infringement). Not when has possible access to her ips, use favoritism of his self produced ggs and literally sabotages or wanna sabotage njs carrier by endless hiatus. How could that even be ok 🤨. Isn't that a breach of trust against Ador?!

How do you know they intend to sabotage NJ? So far they have been providing the proper funding and ressources for their promotion and marketing. NJ is a successful product that makes money and that's the only thing Hybe and their shareholders care about, so why would they bench them?

Regarding the potential hiatus, it has nothing to do with Illit. If the reason for it is because they need to look for a new team then the hiatus is the direct consequence of their conflicts with MHJ. It wouldn't happen if continuing working with her was still an option.

Because NewJeans isn't even 2 years old yet, YG groups debut more than 5 years apart. I swear you people are being purposefully obtuse.

So the issue seems to lay in the fact that Illit and New Jeans are from the same company and only 2 years apart?

The thing is that they are not even from the same company. NJ is from Ador and Illit from Belift. I get that they are under the Hybe umbrella but each of their companies are supposed to operate independently and Hybe have the right to deploy the business strategy that they want. If they feel like their companies can debut groups with overlaping concepts, I don't think there is any rule preventing them from doing so.

Sorry but MHJ doesn't get to tell them how to strategize and run their business...

It makes me wonder re astroturfing and true - if Bang PD ignoring the member was such an unacceptable action and considered an “abuse” how are her text not seen as another type of “abuse”?

Yes, this is also making me think some form of astroturfing in her favor might have been going on on korean plateforms. The unconditinal support she is getting systematically does not feel natural, considering the fact that there are also damning evidences of her not being completly innocent in some regards. Regardless of their stance on Hybe, people should at least be a bit suspicious and question some of her actions if they intend to be a bit fair in their evaluation of the conflict.

The comments on korean forums still gassing her up unconditionally despite her admission of those kakao texts is weird. Like I wasn't expecting knetz to turn on her because of this but them not even slightly rising an eyebrow at her insulting the members in such a way seems... odd. This is such a contrast to their reaction of Bang PD not greeting NJ.

I get supporting one side over the other but I think it's important to be consistent with your prerequisites to accept an argument from any of them. How comes :

Any statement from Hybe --> fake, mediaplay, manipulated

Any statement from MHJ side --> the unquestionable truth (regardless of it being supported by receipt or not).

Imagine the amount of tone deafness and obliviousness required to call this thread an echo chamber when the K-Pop subreddits are in their current state. You cannot make this shit up.

Take your persecution complex and your victimhood to reddit, if you feel ostracized in a thread where people know how to think for themselves and analyze the facts. You would not be missed.

They didnt say the thread was currently an echo chamber. They said this is what some MHJ supporters here wanted this thread to be. I mean seeing how some of you all keep getting mad at people for not sharing the same opinion as you do, they have a point.

This is a situation where everyone will have their own reading and understanding of the elements being presented. This is also quite obvious that no revelation or statement should be taken at face value as both sides are trying to protect their interests and will have their own version of the story. It's also pretty evident there are a tons of mediaplay from both sides involved and that not all relevant elements have been made accessible to the public.

Considering all this, any opinion is based on assumptions and skewed by personal perception of either party so it's normal that not everyone will agree and nobody should be shamed for it.

I dont like Hybe at all but I really fail to see Min Heejin's point in all this. Her main complain against Hybe seems to be about the fact that another girlgroup debuted before hers and when I see it might have been upsetting for her, Hybe are perfectly in their right to develop the business strategy they want. NJ even ended up being the more successful group, which makes her complains look even sillier to me.

I am starting to wonder if the overwhelming support she has been getting isn't less knetizen siding with her cause (whose legitimacy is really dubious) , and more them rallying against Hybe defacto as a result of a built up frustration toward the company's domination and business model in recent years.

In any case, both sides just seem really greedy and selfish. It is pretty obvious this whole issue is just battle of egos and this is sickening to see how the idols who had no say in any of this will end up being the main collaterals to this vain war.

I mean that's good for you but that's not what I was trying to say.

In the grand scheme of thing it doesn't matter what group you personally care about or not. From a general perspective what drives the industry are not the artists themselves but the companies debuting them. Groups are just their products and their life cycle is short and predetermined: Debut, get promoted, gain fans, generate money, make place for the next group. Rinse and repeat. And a lot of kpop fans having company stanning tendency makes it easier for fans to migrate from a group to another. That's why companies will always try to prevent their groups from getting too big/bigger than them. They want to remain the most influential entities, free of disposing of their line of products as they wish, with fans following the cycle flow depending on who they want to put in the front line or at the back burner. As a results kpop groups tend to be easily replaceable.

Of course there are some exceptions, as some groups manage to gain more or less influence and legacy on their own but those tend to be outliners and I would argue the industry still manages to restrict them one way or another.

    The Company.

Fans will try to delude themselves and pretend their groups are what matter but in kpop only the company matters at the end of the day.

How many times have we witnessed successful groups debuting with great acclaim, only for them to fall into nothingness the moment their company gets tired of them and decides to move on to their next new shiny toy, and then the cycle can just start again. It's just sad at this point.

There were both good and bad aspects about their performance but for some reason, it has become impossible for people to have a nuanced opinion about anything so everything has to be either 100% extraordinarly amazing or 100% plain trash, with no in-between.

Unfortunatly for lsfm, simple minded kpop fans have decided this performance would fall into the later category and this is a sufficient reason to lash onto them...
