You made an interesting point in your post and I wanted to take this opportunity to say something I have said again. It's not an attacked or shade, btw. You are too levelheaded and nice for someone to do that to you. And it's not just a reply to you but a general comment based on yours.
I thought it was really interesting you mentioned both Best of Me and DNA as part of the BTS old sound, even nostalgic, compared to the new singles. And I felt like that because at the time of their release, a big part of the kpop community thought that they were selling out by adopting a western sound and even collabing with the Chainsmokers. They said they they have become too westernized.
The fact that after that we got almost 2 years of similar EDM releases didn't get the same responses or lamentations.
Even Idol got the same comments despite the fact that it was something different for kpop with the combination of Korean and Afrobeat music.
I think people's perception of BTS music changed along with their getting bigger in the West. No one said that Dope was commercial or selling out despite the fact that it followed extremely closely the trends in the US music at the time. Because it happened within the confines of kpop, thus it was acceptable to have western music. Same way kpop now is an ocean of generic EDM music but it's ok because it's for kpop use only. Quite odd if you ask me.
Anyway, that was my point. Of course, people can have their own opinions and I can respect it but have an opinion on their opinions as well. Hehehe
they got so much hate for ly her and dna with EVERYONE calling them sell outs that it's funny now seeing some people calling it their old sound/better, nostalgia effect is real, maybe three years from now butter will be their old sound and their new songs will be trash to some people

would you still forgive your idol if they did one of those things? What is one thing that you would never let slide? for me i would never forgive an idol that said something blatantly homophobic and i would totally let a DUI slide if they apologized and if it didn't have any major consequences
