My point was more while BTS releasing something is almost a guaranteed gaon soty by now, the one act that can still put up a fight against them will probably release something in november. I think it could go either way, but the odds are still in IUs favor.
If nothing else, at least it would make the charts intersting again for a bit if they released at the sametime.BTS & IU same month release.

And BTS didn't have a single Gaon song of the month untill 2021. Their 1st were 2020 with ON, Dyna & LGO.
Now look, they gonna get SOTM with every month song they released. Even with a song My universe which is not even on their album & BTS is not even the prior artist(Though coldplay embraced BTS as prior artist💜)
BTS Journey is really inspiring.

Release date has nothing to do with longevity though, it's all up to the song itself.

BWL 2019
Both did better in longevity than IU's respective 2017 & 2019 releases.
So 2020, Dynamite is now 59+-weeks.its position is higher than Eight had on 59+-weeks. (As you mentioned Dyna is younger than Eight)
On 2018, IU didn't released. So there is nothing to compare.
IU is one of the biggest digimons of SK.obviously.
Her career is longer than BTS. So, I found the compare of the releases per year the best metrics to look at.

IU has 9 songs above 1 year on Gaon, BTS has 6 (7 this week with SLR hitting 52 weeks).
Dynamite and SLR are both younger than Blueming and Eight.
Butter and PTD are both younger than Lilac and Celebrity.

I hope, My Universe receives at least one music show win(MU will not get nominated on any music show except Music core). Only for hearing "Congratulation Coldplay & Bangtan Sonyeondan" on Korean show.

I'm curious abt this as well, I think this is a first time a Korean act featured on an International artist's albums, usually it's the other way around.
It happened before. But as far as I know those collabs did not do well enough on K_charts to be nominated.
And Savage Love BTS remix didn't get a head start but has longevity. If it had gotten a head start, it had potential.

Yeah, My Universe will be a strong contender for September Gaon SOTM. As far as I know I know MU's only competition is Lee Moojin's!"Autumn is coming".
2 SOTM are already in bag. 3rd will be cherry on top.
But want to know whether MU can be nominted for COTY. It is the best collab so far this year. It deserves lots of love.
