Display MoreAre you saying SKZ is hardcore rap or are you using hardcore rap as an example of a genre with a popular fandom and unplayable to GP???
If your calling SKZ hardcore rap, then below I'll call you uneducated. If you meant the latter, then disregard the spoiler :)Not to shit on SKZ, but characterizing SKZ as "hardcore rap" is just an VERY uneducated thing to say. SKZ music would be barely considered rap in Korea, let alone in America lmao. Its Kpop with EDM & Rap influences, but they definitely lean more kpop/EDM more than rap imo. If anything from years of kpop rappers, you should know having rappers in a group, doesn't make music "rap music".
Rap is heavily influenced by hip/hop and separating the two to is hard. Especially in more traditional sense of rap, which is what I would call "hardcore rap" if that's a thing.
Also, I want to point out, Korea does have an appetite for rap and has a strong hip-hop/rap community. Show Me The Money usually has hits every season that chart well. These songs tend to be more pop/rap (which is what the GP eats up). But if they like pop/rap, why isn't SKZ doing well charting? Like i said above, IMO they are much more heavily a EDM/Kpop group with rapping and the EDM (what some ppl would call noise) is what turns off the Korean GP.
the latter
they have their niche, their style of music is really different from any other artist really, it's no surprise they will struggle with general public, its like hardcore rap, hugely popular among the fandom but literally unplayable to the general public.
