Downloads peaked somewhere around 2009/10 but when the price changed happened in 2013 they plummeted immediately. Groups that were getting 2-3 million downloads quickly were now fighting to hit 1 million long term. People were really against the price change initially, but as they got over it the downloads got a bit higher each year until mid 2018 when they peaked again (way lower than 10 years prior) and then have been slowly decaying since.
How is the peak lower tho?... 6/12 songs that got 5m+ dls are from 2017 (5 songs) & 2018 (1 song). The other 6 songs are split between 2011, 12', 13', & 14'.
What were the dl numbers before Gaon? Maybe both peaks are similar?
It's possible the first peak was smaller because people may have still used cds or radio and the digital market was just taking off and wasn't that big yet. Plus the limited access to internet and digital devices may also affect the size of the first peak to the second.

20 million downloads off one album, released during the streaming era. crazy
2017 was a still dls era until it peaked in 2018... then after dls began crashing in mid-late 2018, so only then the streaming era emerged.

Think they meant Artist of the Year not Album...if the album hits he can protect his lead against IVE.

Possible challenger for September...but confirmation still needed.

Instiz created the concept of iChart and copyrighted it, hence only they are authorized to certify an AK/PAK. Only way for another entity to be able to do this is to purchase the copyright from Instiz or create their own version of iChart that doesn't infringe on the copyright.

I think it should be pointed out that the average age of the at group is not high.
Their variety choices are probably self-limited because they'll need time to grow into that space. It's not the end of the world they don't get thrown into every variety under the sun. A smaller, contained schedule is exactly what people of that age and status (fresh rookies) need.
Can I just suggest, not aimed JUST at you or directly to you, but -
Your comment (and others made recently, in the digital thread of all things) to me suggests this is kind of the end road of terminal kpopbrain. People care less about the growth of the artist, the fact that the group and song is already smashing (and so an exhaustive schedule for teenagers is unwarranted), and people basically want to throw them on more and more stuff just for internet achievements. It's just detached from any normalcy.
Can we put this stuff into perspective for just one moment?
My bad, I didn't know talking about promotional strategy and charting in the "digital thread" would result in someone taking it this deep.

Do rookies get invited to variety shows with their debut or only from their first comeback onwards?
Now is the perfect time for NewJeans to do some to crack that 600K uls and re-peak on other charts. They seem to be only doing music shows which limits their reach to younger audiences.
They are rumored to guest on '2 Days & 1 Night: Idol Version' but it being a spin-off and idol focused will likely mean it won't get the same ratings as the original variety and may not have a major impact on charting.
