When people don’t put stuff back where they got them

I’m also older than the stereotypical kpop fan and discovered k-pop not too long ago. I’m a casual listener to most kpop groups but consider myself a Bigbang stan. Dedicated means something different to each of us. To me, that means buying an album when it gets released and hopefully getting concert tickets if I’m able.
Now would I be this dedicated as time goes by? Sure. As long as they keep putting out music and content, I’ll support.

Fandom behavior definitely has turned me off from other groups. I know that the artist and the fans are separate entities but when fandom behavior overshadows the artist’s music, it’s a turnoff and makes me not even bother listening to the music or whatever else the artist has to offer.

becoming a fan usually requires more than music
sure music may or may not be a necessity since for me it's always about the members and their personalities and interactions with each other...
if I can't find that then sure I can listen to their music (eg. I listen to a lot of BG music but I wouldn't say I'm a fan)
I have to agree with you, at least when it comes to kpop. Before I started listening to kpop, I became a fan solely because of the music. I couldn’t care less what the artists got going on outside of that. Now though, I find myself not just being a fan of their music but their personas as well. I do have to be careful not too put too much stock into the members’ “personalities” because at the end of the day those are still their public personas and no one outside of their family and close friends know how they really are.

I didn’t mean to fall into the kpop rabbit hole. It was during the time when I kept hearing and seeing BTS everywhere and I decided to see what the fuss was about. Saw a couple of their MVs then stumbled upon 2NE1 after that. Thought to myself “Ok, ok this genre isn’t bad.” Kept checking other groups for a bit. Then I saw Good Boy by GD and Taeyang. I was mesmerized. Decided to check out more of their songs and saw Bae Bae. I was hooked and Bigbang replaced Boys II Men and Guns N’ Roses as my favorite group.
