chill lol! Obviously I was talking about the overall top 100 (all genres)

I think he means Top 100: USA chart, not the pop chart.

I read someone who said that the Top 100 charts are always dominated by rap-hip-hop artists, so maybe that why kpop act don't doing well there.

It’s true but then if you check you can see that all the top 10 of Spotify USA (Taylor, Olivia, the country racist guy) are charting inside the top 20 of AM USA except Kill bill (33) and Super shy and Seven who aren’t charting

Seven almost top 5 now based on only Uls. If it has good gains tomorrow morning then it can reach top 4, maybe even top 3.

Still with You charting at 26 now on the 24h chart

Yup, if he rise on flo he can get a RAK during the night

Im always amazed by the difference between Kpop songs performances on Spotify USA and AM USA. Debuting #1, or for Super shy being at #9 yet none of these songs are charting in AM USA. I guess AM USA is more gp focused

    He need Korean promotions

I didn’t expected Jungkook to do this well in SK! Especially bc they are focused on the US! Hope he promote this one in SK since the US TV is facing a big strike! Who knows maybe he can get a #1.

He’s debuting in the melon daily top 10 that’s for sure

The length of the album is surprising, it's definitely something planned. If it was 1 or 2 short songs I could say it's just a coincidence, but there's no way you make 6 songs and the longest is Super shy. Asap is supposed to be a ''normal'' song and it's 2:14 mins.

I'm not sure what's the reason, maybe they thought people would replay the songs a lot if they're short, maybe they want people to stream the whole album so they thought to make a short one would work better, but I'm a bit iffy about it. Not gonna complain about it too much since so far I liked both songs but it's a bold choice.

Exo and ZB1 doing more or less like expected, the ULs shouldn't be too high. Lots of fandom streaming in the charts for a while sadly though.

The reason is clear lol= easier to stream

Yeah that's the thing, Melon doesn't give the validation for companies that a thing like Billboard does. It's no coincidence that Bang PD has expressed that Hybe's goal is to have another one of their artist reach 1 on the hot100. It kinda would prove to people (investors most importantly) that they can replicate success in a way and aren't just an one trick pony. The only issue is that their capabilities are quite lacking compared to US labels. How they handled txt's recent single a prime example of that. It's a lot of big talk, but no real actions.

I guess We will also see how they are going to handle Jungkook single and if he can replicate BTS US success.

I wonder if NJ will promote in the US for the new era? It’s the only thing that Ador/Hybe aren’t doing in term of push. Otherwise they are definitely investing in the streaming and sns plateforms to push them

For Txt, if they aren’t planing any type of promotions then yeah it was only big talk!

True, but neither OMG or Ditto needed a Friday release to debut on Billboard. Friday releases in kpop tend to put way too much importance on first week charting, and then it fades away.

Also moving to a 6pm kst release on a Friday would really only cause an artist to miss out on 5 hours of a tracking week for Billboard. That doesn't seem much too me. If a song does well it should still be able to chart without those 5 hours. It might only affect Spotify playlisting which resets at 1pm kst, but then are Newjeans on many playlists?

A Friday 6pm release would be preferable imo if you insist on balancing international and korean charting. BTS and BP did it before with HYLT, D4, BWL, ect. and it worked great for them.

Yeah I think it would be the best alternative but then like the others say the playlisting will be impacted

    Yes, you did :clown:

So. There's nothing really surprising about Super Shy's ULs when it dropped on a Friday afternoon, but is there any way to predict how things are tracking for the entire reason for the Friday drop--charting on the Billboard Hot 100?

I don't follow any accounts that make predictions about the chart, or even know how it's weighted, calculated and updated, but I'm curious if Super Shy has a chance to debut on the Hot 100.

We have to wait to see the Spotify US and YouTube US #s. I don’t know if they charted on ITunes Us.

Ngl even if it’s a Friday release, I thought that they would be able to debut with bigger numbers

The more we approach 6 pm the more they rise

#1 on both Bugs and Genie

Really smart choice to put New jeans release first than Super Shy, it looks like Super Shy is going to be succesful for sure so New Jeans is the better choice to get the hype of the first song to check. Still a bit confused with the whole timing and when they're going to appear in streaming services though, I guess New Jeans will be just the MV and then release both songs at the same time in the streaming services.

Regarding NJs songs cannibalizing each other, it's obvious it's going to happen, if they had 3 titles as big as Attention/Ditto it would be completely crazy. They're trying a different thing though, people care a lot about having 1 super succesful song because records are cool and look this song got more weeks in the top 10 than this other, but for an artist recognition to have 3 songs like OMG is way more important than to have 1 like Attention. If this goes like we all more or less expect, it's not just that they're going to have the #1 song of the summer, it's that they're going to have half of the whole top 20 of the charts for themselves. This for New Jeans as a group and a brand is way more impactful, even if at the end only 1 or 2 of them end up being really big hits the dominance they're going to have now is going to have much more impact on normal people that aren't checking the charts everyday but they'll just be listening to New Jeans everywhere all the time.

Also this is pretty obvious but promoting so many songs there're more chances of one of them becoming viral for any reason, which is what happened with Hype boy after all.

I just hope that they’re not going to be overworked and stay healthy! Promoting one TT is already a lot so promoting 3 can be insane!
