an user before me already pointed out some of these things but i'm going to say them again:

1. everyone loves free stuff

2. it's a great promo for the artists since many casual listeners or stans-in-the-making who won't pay for an actual concert ticket are tuning in, even non-fans who are just curious or plain bored watched the concert

3. it's a great way to repay the fans and push the agenda that the company cares about them and sees the effort and resources they're putting into supporting the artists

4. it's generally a good move since we're in the middle of a pandemic and not everyone can afford a $50 ticket just to see their faves for 15 minutes and sm is winning praises and respect from this

5. sm is thinking for the long run because giving fans free concert makes them feel good and valued => they'll be much more willing to pay for other stuff like merch and albums while if you're milking them for every single thing like hybe does, it leaves a bad taste in their mouths => unhappy fans, less money for the company, it's that simple

I think it was my fault for saying Hybe should make it free like SM and that they are greedy. That somehow brought all these Hybe stans together to defend the company. I have no idea why they get so worked up over a freaking company.

There was a huge list of companies who sponsored it bc of the number it pulled last year

It was kinda nice that sponsors didnt demanded ads and just a list of their names

There was actually left over money from sponsors + money from their artists that was donated

I don't think that is important anyway. The thing is the SM concert is available on a lot of popular streaming sites in including youtube. That's a good promo for all of their acts who participated, more exposure and all. People enjoy free stuffs so even if some might not stan a SM act, they would still watch. Not to mention, they made a good image for themselves that they're a generous company who would give free concert to "repay the fans' love". Maybe you don't think it's necessary because it's all about profits and money for you but SM might think differently and they look far in the future. The loss is like an investment to win fans' heart. and as a result, their acts had a very successful year and the songs that were released in the concert are even charting high on digital charts.

Hybe should make it free like SM too seeing there's a loss anyway but they're too greedy to sacrifice money/profits for marketing purpose. I have to admit SM won on this one.

The song is a mess. That's a major turn-off.

And they don't have some IT girls in the group unlike other produce groups. The only one close to that is Xiaoting but she's Chinese so she won't be favored by Koreans.

But I think they can still improve their popularity with better songs and promotions in the future if CJ plays their cards right.

I don't get it. If people want to unsub or sub then it's their freedom to do it. Why are you so bothered by what some Armys are doing? It's like when Taehyung was annoyed by the suggested follow and asked Armys how to turn it off. Youtube is the same. Some people are just bothered by those.
