tbh... I wasn't expecting much from their debut cause their hype in general did seem to be lower than other hybe ggs (Ie LSFM and NJs)... And that was likely due to a variety of reasons, 1 being that they did wait a while to debut them after their survival show & also they lost 1 member.
however, than the PFW thing happened... people were hating on them so much for it... I remember the tweet by kchartmaster of them attending had so many quotes on it of people dragging them etc (i remember it was still going after a whole day from when it was posted).... what i don't think people realized is that they were just spreading ILLITs name by doing that. After that, I'd say more people were aware a new HYBE gg was even coming out lol. Than they dropped the preview for Magnetic and thats what really got people to tune in for the actual debut and is what is letting us see these numbers tbh. Though I am still surprised that they're as high as they are... like even the bsides are pretty high
Yeah the only thing all those hate tweet did is just spread the song and allow more people to hear it and as it can be seen: more people to like it.

Is $50 expensive? It's the same price as Blackpink's Born Pink album. And the number of the versions doesn't matter as the main reason fans bulk buy albums is for the randomized pcs inside.
Born Pink had cheapers versions via their 4 digipack versions (that released at the same time as the $50 vers)... BE was just the $50 ver at release with a 2nd (cheaper ver) coming out in Feb 2021 (3 months after release).
