basically when you enter teapot and go to furniture, click on 'place' and after that go to "set" whether it is indoor or outdoor (there are companion sets for both)
when you click on the set for info, it will tell you which characters can give you gifts by inviting them to that set. After you place it and invite them, all you have to do is click on that character for rewards (they will make a comment about the set how much they like it etc)
