Why does Blackpink eat up every other girl group when it comes to charting their bsides internationally?

  • Blackpink has charted at least one bside of theirs off every album

One is square up, 2 in kill this love, all 8 in the album

Like rookie bp charted forever young in Spotify global 200 which no gg has done since

People might say it’s because of lack of music but ulnar rookie ggs like I’ve and aespa who also don’t have much music (4 and 9 songs) haven’t done that

    Approved the thread.
  • blackpink has like 5 b- sides. you cant compare it with aespa. the amount of songs that aespa gets is perfectly normal

  • Mods change to girl group in title please!

Don’t want toxic anon army coming for me

  • *popular

  • They are that far ahead from the rest, bp has the perfect combination of hardcore fandom and casual interest by people who are not even kpop fans which makes this kind of numbers possible. The growth of kpop in the last few years is also in part thanks to them, guaranteed 4th gen ggs wouldn't be doing these numbers without bp effect

Changed the title of the thread from “Why does Blackpink eat up every other group when it comes to charting their bsides internationally?” to “Why does Blackpink eat up every other girl group when it comes to charting their bsides internationally?”.
  • because BP music is good, no brainer

  • Obviously because they have far less content than other groups so every song is treated like a Monalisa painting, even shitty songs like Bet You Wanna

That does not explain the difference. Other ggs b-side range from 10 to 20 millions while bp surpass the 100m mark with ease, a few are over 200 even

It does explain the difference. Other ggs (and bgs) have so many bsides that listeners have a lot to pick from, and not only that but Blackpink is the most popular girl group so naturally their songs will have more streams too.

They are top 1, and have only 58 songs since 2016. Just to compare, Twice, top 2, have 153, and Red Velvet, top 3, have 113.

Having so few music that all of it chart sounds more pitiful than a flex, at least for fans. Only YG should be happy for achieving so much with minimal content. No wonder they take so long to release new music; it pays off in their case.

A quick check and I can see bp have have around 1.6 billion streams off their bsides alone on spotify and this doesn't even include japanese versions and other live albums which would otherwise add a few hundred millions more. Twice don't even get to 1 billion despite having like 3 or 4 times blackpink's amount.

Like I said in my first post, it doesn't explain the difference. BP just do a lot better and having more songs might slightly decrease the streams of their top bsides but overall the gap with twice and other ggs would be even bigger

  • Little content would explain why BP b sides have 100M+ streams while most girl groups struggle to hit 10M but that doesn't explain how the songs are debuting so high to begin with...like even BP's ballad b sides are charting higher than every girlgroup on Spotify global

Semi unrelated but BP are also the only girl group to actually chart all their bsides in SK as well. They are the only girl group to chart every bside on Melon 24Hits, and 4/8 of those songs were in English. How does any of this have anything to do with little content

Just admit BP has more casual interest and better b sides than most girl groups and move on lol

  • Because people and the general public like their music and not only their tittle tracks.

    It's as simple as that

  • Their fans are starved and eat up whatever trash yg gives them.

Let's use logic because you are lacking here, all these amount of songs weren't released at the same time. We have something called comeback with a mini or a full album and the only gg who since debut had their bsides charting good and even improving is called BP. So no, this isn't about the amount of songs, this is about relevance and music that interest not just fans.

It's embarrassing how people use this logic here when BP weren't the top gg "according to kpop fans" until 2018 OR 2020 so another attempt of nothing.

  • I know people are saying it’s because they have little content but I’m not talking about the bsides raking up 100m streams

I’m talking them debuting with like a million filtered streams the day of the release. Like bp in 2018 when they was 10x less popular as a GROUP and had a fanbase equal to or smaller than all top 4th gen ggs right now (square up didn’t even pass 200k by the end of 2018) was able to debut forever young on Spotify global 200, 2019 it was kick it and dkqtd and 2020 all of the bsides.

Even ggs who also having little songs but are very popular like aespa and I’ve can’t do that. Like I’ve song rn is breaking all 4th gen records internationally yet it’s not like royal got any actual casual interest.

I’ve thought about it and it might be because they advertise their bsides the most. Blackpink has few songs but whenever they comeback with an album they always promote a bside on music shows (forever young, dkwtd,ps) but even then I’m not sure because other ggs have promoted besides before.

  • Because they are popular and their music is good.

There is no need for the mental gymnastics. It's as simple as that

  • Lol bp fans patting each other on their backs like "yeah blackpink eat up every other girl group blah blah etc." like buddy they have like 5 songs and have actual new content every two years. Of course they will replay their songs like 10 million times.

What does having few songs have to do with releasing 5 b-sides all on one day and all of them debuting top 25 on Spotify global?

    The mental gymnastics here lol
