I do think BTS has finally stopped caring about the Grammys, and I'm glad about it

  • Since the very moment they were motivated for the Grammys, they were very focused on creating songs that could appeal to masses in the west (or if we're being honest, it's the Grammys). I don't mind the songs being in English neither them being generic (infact I enjoyed them). But I do believe this did hinder their artistic creativity, and the fact they weren't that involved in the writing of their English tracks proves it.

Back when BTS didn't win their Grammy for Dynamite, they still had a slight hope and said they would try harder. But this time they didn't say all that. Even though they weren't that hopeful of winning, they showed more disappointment this time. During the concert, RM didn't mention once about trying harder for the Grammys, but instead said he was grateful he could just perform there for the ARMYs.

Also they did hint at trying to become a self-produced group, so that's a better goal ig. I would rather see BTS having more involvement in the production and exploring their artistic creativity than them achieving a Grammy, as a fan.

    Approved the thread.

I agree especially the last part.

I hope there will be a day we can witness them as the main producer of the title track. Suga said it's his wish during 2014 or 2015 i almost forgot but it never came true because Pdogg needs to keep his job :pepe-shrug:

  • i'm glad honestly.

this is slightly off topic but stay with me here- there was a thread on r/AskReddit titled something along the lines of "What band is considered great but isn't really that great?" and of course, there were many "BTS" answers. and under those answers, the conversations were more civilized than i thought.

people were stating why they believed bts weren't that great, and ofc many were westerners who didn't like kpop and who had only heard Butter or PTD. some Armys took the liberty of respectfully linking them videos like the ON kinetic performance, Run, and other older material.... and those people actually became much more receptive and understanding as to why people liked bts. people were having whole ass epiphanies (no pun intended) in the sense that- they didn't all of the sudden like their music now, but now it made much more sense to them why so many people have love for them.

i posted in that thread a bit. and there were even other Armys in there who voiced frustration about the english singles and the altered perception of bts' image based off of the three singles. it was a very interesting conversation.

and i think that just goes to show that when you do your own thing with more authenticity, people come to like you more. rather than having a generic pop track that may gain more success, but in the long run, not ultimately be the vision you have for your work, yk? and there's nothing wrong with wanting to win a grammy or releasing an english single, i just think it's very interesting how people went into a thread not understanding the hype around bts, and then after they were shown some of bts' other material, they became much more receptive. that's not to say their english material is bad, but it is very interesting to observe.

either way i'm glad they don't give a fuck anymore. the grammy's has been shit for years. people should've known ever since taylor was snubbed in 2012 with "Red" (obvious who i am yet? lol) and she was snubbed again with "reputation" along with lorde's masterpiece "melodrama" in 2017. it's a literal joke at this point. look it up, the viewership has been at an all time low, they needed bts to save it but didn't even bother to follow through lmao.

but i loved this post and this is probably the first time i've actually directly responded on an anon with something this long, so thank you for starting up this dialogue! :borahae:

  • we'll see depending on what they release next

  • The proof will be in their next comeback. If it's another title track that will keep Meghan Trainor awake with jealousy, they're still trying.

  • Hybe stopped caring because it can no longer help them avoid enlistment
