If they opened their ig account earlier in 2020 before they dropped the dynamite teasers, I'm pretty sure V would be the most followed idol on ig by now with around 80M to 90M. We know IG moves fast, someone will follow you for a hot minute then don't engage with your account later on. That's the reason why BTS members have such high engagement as well. Their account is new and people who followed them are active accounts. I also noticed that they lost quite a lot of casual fans or listeners since they still can't reached the number of their followers on BTS_official.

Are you saying that their new 4 month old personal accs couldn’t reach the followers count on their official accs of many years? Thus they have lost many causal fans and listeners? I just want to clarify

No. I'm saying that they lost quite a lot of casual fans or listeners throughout the years (which is normal for ANY artists!) that's why they couldn't match the number of followers of BTS Official.

(Warning: Comparison to explain better. No ill intentions.)

For example, if BTS and Blackpink made their own ig accounts at the same time, BTS would've more followers than them. Those followers were accumulated years and years which is why they have more followers. While BTS just opened their own account 4 months ago. If you noticed BTS members have higher engagement rate than Blackpink members, that's because a lot of people following blackpink members are inactive accounts and simply doesn't care enough to engage with their posts- since they're not a fan anymore or they moved on already. It's the same sentiment with BTS group account and BTS' individual account. Also, if blackpink members somehow deleted their ig account then make a new one at the same time as BTS - the guys will surely have more followers than the girls. That's why I said IG moves fast. I may follow someone because I feel like it, then later on, I'll completely ignore their posts until their contents get buried because I don't engage with them anymore while still following them. That's what happening most of the time.

Anyhoo, V will surely ends up with atleast 65M followers on ig at the end of this year with Jungkook following behind, and then the other members as well.
