(I'm don't believe the Karina scandal was a publicity stunt tho) People feel bad for people who get falsely accused of things, especially if they're pretty. The terrible accusations about Karina led to a ton of people liking her not just cause she's pretty but cause they felt bad for her.

Most of the general public has no idea about the bullying rumors. Karina's popular because the songs are hitting and she's really, really, attractive.

I think it was all made up by trolls (not the chalkboard drawings, that was unfortunate but in the realm of normal teenage behavior.)

Garam's say that she wants to sleep with V, hated WY, and thinks that Sakura is a "plastic monster".

Is it likely that someone who wants to be an idol would say things like this about the same idols they're going to be coming in contact with? I'm convinced it's a tactic to embarrass them or to try and stop them debuting.

Garam's scandal is far worse because there's picture as proof and we all know how knetz expect idols to be, and how their concept is supposed to be "angelical"...

Karina only had rumors, the only "proof" was dismissed because it could have easily been fabricated.
