So at the end of the day, was SWF worth it for Lee Chaeyeon?

  • The show and its main contestants were massively successful, but it didn't seem to be all that for Lee Chaeyeon. She got some pity points (?) but her main skill which was dancing was put down and compared to professionals. Now she's completely disappeared and no one is even sure of her next career path.

  • no...being once of the top kpop dancers was literally her biggest strength and selling point, n swf proved otherwise....yes she's still good as compared to kpop but still...

  • She should've debut as a soloist as soon as izone disbanded.

Never compare kpop dancers to other dancers, put them on the same stage and they'll always end up being outshined by them.

yes people can complain all they want about how she shines more in a group and that it takes a lot to be a succesfull as a soloist, but most post produce idols flopped with their second group with half of them being filler members + them being from a nugu company which leads to less interesting members even trying to get in. It'll most likely be chaeyeon and friends. She would most likely have to carry the other members and that's not better in any way. Almost every big3 company has debuted a gg recently so they won't sign her either (maybe hybe but at this point it's probably too late). It seems like if she want to have a decent career, solo is the only option. Most of the hype she has will die soon, so wm should debut her solo soon unless there's way she can leave the company and go to a better one but I'm doubting it.

  • Honestly no.

I think going on that show devalued her biggest strength.

I don't believe she will ever hit big, both in a group and especially solo.

  • No it damaged her brand. She used to regularly show up on top female idol dancer lists, now it's like they all just accepted the SWF verdict that she's not talented.

I don't know what she's doing now but she needs a new project asap before she gets forgotten.

  • She doesn't have the visuals for that.

If she was in a nugu group she would overshadow the others. Some other trainees that debuted in another (not so popular) group aren’t visuals either but are still more popular than their members. It doesn’t mean she’d become an it girl just more relevant than her members and her fans (wizones that still care) would only focus on her

This is the exact problem though.

Every successful group has visuals as their most popular members, like it not.

Chaeyeon being the major selling point of a group will only attract her stans from Wizones.

If she's the most relevant, they aren't going to hit big.

No, she shouldn't have been on the show fully, or should have gone in an announcer role instead or smthing. She wasn't the weakest dancer there, many of the ones from Hook/WayB were weaker, but unlike them, she was highlighted because of her fame. Not to mention, while she was cleaner than many of the younger Hook dancers, she didn't have the competitive experience they did and was very nervy. She didn't come off very well, but at least the show was a hit and they had some good friendships come out of it.

It's a very difficult path now for her but I wish her well.

You mean an announcer role like an MC/host? She's not big enough to be hosting lke that. Mnet always gets world wide famous stars to be hosts of their programs like Lee Seunggi, BoA for PD, Kang Daniel, or Taeyeon for Queendom etc.
