How accurate is billboard global 200?

  • Eleven is on its way to surpass both lsg and ice cream in billboard global 200

But tbh ice cream n lsg was more popular than eleven internationally, so how does that work?

How is it surpassing them? In the no of weeks charting? Then you should take into consideration peak too

  • Simple, those songs were probably not bigger.

Ice Cream 100% wasn't. It only stayed on hot 100 for like 7-8 weeks due to massive playlisting and radio deals. It was aimed at the US and flopped in the US after the company push stopped. It didn't do well anywhere else so that impacted it's overall longevity by BP standards.

Lovesick Girls did well in Korea and among BP fans, but overall made no noise internationally so we'll continue to see songs overtake it on global 200. We saw The Feels, I Can't Stop Me already iirc and next week potentially Eleven will pass it and I think Kep1er has a chance of that too.

I think people see BP songs and just assume they are international smash hits but in reality most of their songs are no more known outside of Kpop than most top groups. The ONLY exceptions being How You Like That and D4.

People see LSG and IC doing numbers on Spotify in streaming and forget other groups debut with about 12-25 million playlisting reach, while BP get about 100m or more, On The Ground for example had 95m playlisting reach in it's first week while also featuring on Today's Top Hits(even tho it made 0 noise outside of Korea and was only a minor hit there) and stack millions of playlisting assisted streams compared to the rest of Kpop.

Eleven so far is bigger in Korea and much much bigger in Japan aswell as doing okay-ish in SEA so overall it's a bigger song on BB 200.

HOWEVER keep in mind LSG did better in certain regions not included in that chart, such as China.

  • Ice cream and lsg were not that big especially after hylt and ktl. They had no longevity and fell off pretty fast. Lsg only did well in Korea. Eleven seems very steady in charting meanwhile. It may not have the huge peaks of the other songs but it's very stable.

  • Yeah in number of weeks. I don’t understand why though… maybe for lsg I can understand but ice cream is a lot more well known

Ice cream wasn't a hit anywhere though. It was carried mostly by bp and Selena's star power. It fell off really fast after the label stopped all the playlist and radio deals. It gets most streams from sea and south America where their fanbases are concentrated and are good at streaming

  • Lsg did 100 days on Spotify global and way bigger youtube views. It's strange that eleven is doing same weeks.

There this japanese song which charted on billboaed global 200 for 50+ weeks but has only 130m+ strems on spotify so maybe eleven being bigger hit in japan may help it.

  • lsg and ic weren't up to bp's usual standards

lsg did really well in korea, longevity wise, but both songs didn't do very well everywhere else, compared to bp's other hits. if eleven's song is doing well in japan, it would also explain a lot

people tend to forget japan's influence in the music market a lot

they are huge & 2nd biggest for a reason...

  • Because eleven did well in japan (second biggest market) so the song gets more points off that alone. Also not sure why people are pretending this means it's bigger than any of these songs, when ice cream released billboard global 200 chart didn't even exist so its peak wasn't even reflected.
