What do you think about idols doing concepts which don't fit their persona?

  • In kpop idols often switch back and forth between concepts which don't exactly fit their persona. I started thinking about this after finally checking out Suzy's latest song.

I think it is good to try something new but sometimes they fall flat.

In Lightsum, there's a mix of girl crush performers like Chowon, Sangah, Juhyeon, people who can switch like Yujeong and Nayoung, and a few that just don't mesh with the rest of their members vibe wise like Hina, Huihyeon, and Jian. I feel like no matter what Lightsum does a few members don't fit it as well as the others, especially since the least popular members by far are Huihyeon and Jian.

Yujin (in Kep1er) sometimes struggles to get more hardcore fans, almost all her fans are from her CLC times, because she doesn't really fit darker concepts.

Jeongyeon didn't suit the boyish persona she had to put on.

Loona has this problem with some concepts, Butterfly fit them all well in one way or another but some concepts leave some members behind.
