Do you care about vocals in kpop?

    Approved the thread.
  • I hate autotune of that's what you're asking about

  • i like sm groups but i also don't care if my faves lipsync or don't have good vocals like sm groups.

  • Yeah the people have to sound good on audio at least. how else am I supposed to listen to songs without my ears hurting

  • yes, at least their voice doesn't' sound annoying in my ears

  • Not particularly. I'm into kpop because of the performances and concepts more than anything else. I love the dancing, the (oftentimes crazy and outlandish) costumes, the music videos...

That said, idols should manage to get through a live performance or encore without sounding like a herd of dying goats. I just don't expext them to be these incredible, outstanding vocalists on par with Mariah Carey or Freddie Mercury.

  • Yes. I love talent.

I love masterful vocals, extraordinary dancing and inspired rap.

I can really enjoy performances of those who've mastered their field and can show the difference it makes.

  • I'd say 80/20. Im not expecting every group to have great vocalist but decently enough that when you live sing, you can hold a note and not out of tune. The other 20% is if they don't have great vocal, at least they should be able to perform well in dance choreography.

  • YES

    disclaimers:

a bad song with superb vocals is not enjoyable

a good song with bad vocals is not enjoyable

  • Yes. If the vocals aren't good there's no point in listening.

  • i don't expect idols be as good singers as singers that don't dance and focus on singing, however I do want them to sing live at least 25% of the time and be able to sing their own songs while just standing/singing

  • Absolutely yes. My fave groups, I must say, have all been good vocal groups. Mmm and majority of SM groups boast good vocals. I enjoyed songs that are layered with seasoned vocal works regardless if they're popular songs or not. I absolutely abhor bad vocals tbh. There is this one girl group I can never get into for all these years because their voices sound like struggling ducks to me even in studio version. Don't get me wrong, I respect that people think they're lovely and are charming and that's one of the biggest factor why they're popular. But I don't listen to their charm when I put my headphone in my ears, I listen to their voices and to how their vocals sound like. They just never hit the mark for me where I personally think it matters the most for singers. They're just, in my honest opinion, vocally bad. Vocals matter the most to me.

  • Yes, they're singers after all. Their singing has to be at least enjoyable. But I do enjoy flexing vocals.
