A blast from the past: LOONA's Yves releases self-titled single album 🍎

  • As the ninth revealed member of LOONA, Yves debuted on November 14, 2017 and released her self-titled single album Yves on November 28, 2017. The single features two mesmerizing songs.

With "new," an uptempo, retro-influenced track, Yves declares commitment to trusting herself with this newfound epiphany that she has. I love the message because it isn't about love or heartbreak, but about empowerment and positivity. It's refreshing to hear a song that doesn't put the artist at the mercy of some love interest. The MV showcases Yves's dance skills; she truly deserves her position as main dancer.

A softer, R&B B-side, "D-1" shows a different dimension to Yves. Apparently, the genre is "French pop"? I'm not sure, but that's what I saw upon doing some research. The song feels (yes, feels, not just sounds) like all the pleasant things in the world combined together.
