Do you genuinely believe that Blackpink songs are repetitive?

  • they are not. and if you think so, you are wrong. they have a similar style in SOME of their songs but not all. i have never understood non-fans and blinks who think like that. ESPECIALLY the ppl who think they should CHANGE up their style. likeeee... no sweetheart, that's not happening and it shouldn't honestly.

    what's ur take on this?

    Approved the thread.
  • The structure is similar. And there's a badabing, DU DU in a lot of they songs.

I think if they came back more often, the songs would become repetitive and wouldn't do that well. But since they don't, people miss that 'I am a bad bish/swag' style and the fans get hyped.

  • Teddy follows the same formula for BP and somi songs.

  • It's a lazy anti pov. Think of a WJSN song, you'll have a certain sound in mind, Gfriend, Dreamcatcher. Red Velvet, when people mention their red or velvet concepts you know what the sound is. Twice always sound like Twice - yes even when they released Fancy.

What they mean is that they don't like Blackpink's sound. Whether it's a loud banger like HYLT/KTL or a smoothy like Whistle or a ballad like Hope Not. They just don't like it. And that's fine. But I don't pop up on a Twice MV to complain that The Feels sounds like just another Twice song, because duhhhhh.

  • It isn't repetitive, but the formula is almost the same so it is more a lack of creativity bc come on, the songs are great, but they can change a little bit just for the sake of changing it. I love their sound so i don't see a reason for a change, but they really need to work on different formulas. PS was a great song and different too, LTHM, COY, all different.

  • They follow the same formula

  • Kinda yeah. They have a lot of same repeating words, empty chorus and lyrics mostly about female empowerment (not a bad thing but if that’s the only thing you sing about can get bit boring). Like others said it’s the same formula over and over.

  • They have a similar style but that's their signature BP style ;D the songs itselves are not repetitive

  • I feel like the repetitive thing is a lame excuse lol. A while ago a blink listed out the structures for KTL and D4.

They had a lot of differences.

Basically, the main/only notible similarity was the chorus was not a full chorus(and lets admit it, D4 was more instrumental and KTL wasn't).

If you guys have a problem with groups having songs with half choruses then consider yourself hypocrites for not having a problem when groups use full choruses all the time.

Also, not all their songs are about female empowerment lol, and the ones that are have different elements. KTL was about killing toxic/abusive love, How You Like That wasn't(I personally don't consider How You Like That about female empowerment, it is more of an overall message to haters).

You can't tell me that How You Like That and Lovesick Girls are the same lol. Completley different structures in the same album.

  • Idk how it's a bad thing to have "repetitive" songs when it's become your signature sound. All of BP's most streamed songs on Spotify right now are their "bangers" (HYLT, D4, KTL, Boombayah). AIIYL is the only exception. There's a reason LSG was probably the most praised BP song on AKP in years but was lowkey an underperformance for them internationally. Most blinks stan BP because of their hard-hitting songs kpop stans claim all sound the same, tbh they would probably lose popularity if they became less "repetitive"

  • I can't believe people don't understand branding used for the international crowd. Every time I've shown my white friends HYLT video and when it gets to Lisa's "bada bing bada boom" part, they all laugh and then start doing the rap hand gestures and they get even more into the video. 99% of people watching Blackpink videos don't know Korean but they all know bada bing bada boom. It's very fun to say.

  • they haven't become repetitive to gp and most of kpop yet

if they came back more often and they did it with the type of songs they usually do?

yeah, they would become repetitive. their lack of releases helps them

  • Yes, that's is natural when you work with q producer.

Most producers songs are repetitive, even big names in western music its the same thing. People have styles and formulas.

Are all BP songs rinse and repeat? No.

Are most BP songs structure that same? Kind of.

  • I just think they're really boring.

At the beginning they were fresh and fun but it just bland. They're gorgeous people, I'll never deny that, but they use that same "bad ass" "bad bitches" vibes when I personally believe they don't sell it very well. And many other groups/people are just gorgeous, besides.

The don't consistently release music anyway. So every time they do drop something, I always feel it's way too similar to their last song. So yeah, to me, they're just boring.
