I think Korea cares about brand more than the song that explains why the every song released by IU is a hit. Aespa's experimental song(savage) did well while other groups fail to do so. BTS songs before international success were all bops but didnt get mushc success in Korea. Twice's recent music is better than 2017 one but it's not doing that well, same case with Blackpink. I've seen a few unexpected hits too ( rolling, boom boom) bit that's a rare case. What are your thoughts?

'Brand' is just another term for exposure and acceptance.
Of course 'Brand' - which indicates that a lot of people already are aware and have accepted the product, will have more acceptance, than the unknowns.
This is not at all limited to music or to Korea. But a fact of life everywhere.
Supposing Apple puts out some new device and some ABC tech puts out a similar device or even better one, which do you think will sell better?
Why do you think companies spend millions on marketing, if merely the quality of product is enough.
That is no different with Kpop.
BTS, Twice or IU could release utter rubbish, yet that will outsell much better songs from unknown artists.
But they have earned their 'brand' value the hard way as well, and will not be foolish to lose it.
Yes, for a struggling idol who is a genius, this might be unfair, but it is the fact of life.

Yup but they didn't do that good except SD.

Blackpink are not doing that well? How You Like That and Lovesick Girls charted for ages, about a year each, actually I think at least one of them still hasn't left the charts. And their sales and streams and views are beating all other girl groups and most boy groups.
The only reason Blackpink are not making any noise on the charts right now is because it's been well over a year since they released a group comeback.

This is the truth.
Edgy kids always want to cut down those at the top.
This is why there are company stans too, and there is nothing wrong with that. It's like preferring Samsung over Apple or Nike over Adidas, Gucci over Dior.

Their previous songs weren't that big but they now can release shit and it'll still get paks. Let's make some other group release hylt see the results.

Bst has over 2.5M downloads and 100M streams on gaon , it was once the longest charting boygroup song on melon before sd took over , it has 4.9M ULS on melon
So I don't know where you got the idea that it didn't do that good
and fire charted pretty well too , became a variety show staple and had about 4.5M uls the last time I checked
Bts already had multiple hits in Korea before blowing up globally

Not the BTS shade. Fire and spring day were huge hits in Korea

Kpop is a deluded environment, all the stans talk about music, but it has very little to do with it. Most of these idols aren't even passionate about music. The idea behind these idol groups have always been to use it as a stepping stone to other things. That's why it's laughable when these companies try to sell these manufactured, soulless idols as artists. Not only that, think about the amount of scandals, and I am not talking about dating, I mean, their companies manipulating sales, charting, stealing songs, etc. How can anyone take this nonsense seriously?
Personally I don't care about Korea, this has got to be the only environment that people cite popularity in their home country as a flex, you think people care if Shakira charts in Colombia? Wyclef Jean in Haiti? U2 in Ireland? Rihanna in Barbados? Drake in Canada? the list goes on. When BTS stops promoting in the west, thankfully, the kpop stans can go back to obsessing over the fishbowl that is the Korean music industry.

korean GP are success stans

I think it's a mix of brand and good music.
Twice used to have hit after hit when they did cute songs so you'd think they were set of life, they could release anything and still top charts. But we all know what happened, they changed styles and flopped hard. Now Twice brand means nothing for their music.
Black pink release the same type of music over and over but public still like it. Their music is their brand.
Red velvet are a unique example. They are popular but weirdly sometimes have big flops and big hits. The brand is there but it isn't directly help with their music. It's basically a coin flip with them.

Yup you're right but I think twice's fandom abandoned them after all those lin syncing and dating scandals. Their current music is much better.

didn't like it either. Especially the party 'I'm a celebrity'
