I know not a lot of people are interested by this show and khip hop in general but I still wanted to do this thread. It's an amazing show that I think is too much criticized by underground khh or general public. This has some of the most legendary korean hip hop performances and this season especially was no joke.
I also want people to discover krap and expand their knowledge above the kpop rap sphere. Kpop rappers are imo unjustifiably criticized for their skill when in reality they are for most of them good enough to be signed by small labels and for the best of them good enough to be leading artists on bigger labels.
I also plan to make a series of post to present SMTM in more details and the legendary performances of past seasons.
Now he's my top 5 for the 2021 edition :
5 - Since - UP ft. Woo and Jay Park
A song that bleeds Hip-Hop and perfectly shows Since amazing skills. The song has powerful lyrics and her tone and voice are very engaging, she's even shouting sometimes. One of the most powerful stage in SMTM history, Since overflows with charisma in the performance.
The AOMG featuring with Jay Park and Woo was extremely cool as always with AOMG and they fitted the song perfectly. We can't wait for her future releases !
4 - Sokodomo - Be ! ft. Paloalto and Lil Boi
Do you like boom bap ? Do you like Hip Hop ? If you like those, you will love be ! A boom bap masterpiece from the alien rapper Sokodomo who continues to surprise everyone. This old school rap is perfect to listen at any moment and will enlighten your day. The legend himself Paloalto gives an amazing featuring and the god rapper Lil Boi makes an unexpected banger from nowhere. Truly legend stage.
3 - Mudd the Student - Moss ft. Bobby
During this edition of SMTM, one of the most unexpected rapper to come out was Mudd the Student. He came out of nowhere and his very powerful trap got everyone by surprise and he went on an amzing streak. This genius track produced by Mino was a masterpiece coming out of nowhere, releasing the sleeping giant Bobby with the new trap monster Mudd. A trap classic to remember.
2 - Jo Gwang-Il - GARION ft. Dynamic Duo
Jo Gwang-Il, the fastest rapper in Korea, and the beast Gaeko with his long time partner Choiza coming together for the absolute masterpiece GARION. Gwang-Il is an absolute legend who simply outclassed everyone and he dominated with this banger. The song screamed skillgap and showed everyone who's the boss.

When you think about career defining moments for an artist, it always seems hard to find those moments, like mic drop mama 2017 for bts, mama 2013 Fantastic Baby for Big Bang. This is a career defining moment for one of the best rapper in korea right now. Waterbomb is a call out to all his haters, and him showing how unbelievably skilled he is. His flow is just perfect during the whole track and he destroys the beat. Gaeko and Nucksal contributes to one of the best featuring in history. The rest is pure hype for one of the best show in SMTM history !!
