The Love Confession
The full moon is shining on the sparkling night sky.
The goose is sitting on the couch in the living room inside of Seonghwa's house.
The TV is on, and is showing a travel documentary about Sweden.
They have been friends for almost a year, but she wants to be more than friends with him.
But she is scared that he might reject her and never want to see her again.
He walks into the living room.
She looks into his eyes and her cheeks turn as pink as his hair, while her heart is fluttering like butterflies.
He smiles at her, making her smile back.
He takes a seat next to her.
"So do you find that documentary interesting?" he asks.
"A bit."
"Learning about other countries is pretty interesting." he says and then asks. "Do you mind if I switch the channel?"
"No, not a all."
He picks up the remote control and switches to a channel, which is currently showing a black-and-white movie called "A Love Story In Paris".
"Oh, I have heard about that movie." he says. "it's that one old romantic movie where these two are friends, but the woman is in love with her friend."
The movie's plot reminds her about something.
"That sounds like a good movie." she says.
Then both of them watch that movie together.
In the end of the movie, The main character's friend falls in love with an other woman.
And then she has an arranged marriage to a French count.
"It's sad that she didn't end up with her friend." he says.
"I agree, but the count seems like a nice person."
"Yes, but she didn't feel anything for that guy."
"I don't think I would be to be in an arranged marriage with anyone."
"Yes, I'll rather marry someone that I love."
Her heart starts fluttering, while thinking about the thing she wants to ask him.
"Seonghwa, do you like me?"
Her heart starts beating much faster.
"Yes, I think you're a good friend." he responds with a friendly smile.
"But what if I was like that woman in the movie?" she asks.
"Then I would feel the same way."
Her eyes widen from his response.
"Wha... what?"
"I'm in love with you."
"But I'm not pretty and I'm also a goose."
"Why don't you think you're pretty? Is it because you don't look like a swan?"
"Yes, I sometimes wish I looked like a swan." she responds, thinking about all the beautiful swans that she has seen.
"I remember reading a The Ugly Duckling picture book as a child and even though the swans were pretty, I didn't find that duckling ugly as all." he says. "I found that duckling to be cute looking."
"Do you think I look cute too?"
"Yes, and pretty."
The goose gets tears in her eyes.
"Is there something wrong?"
"No, it is just the first time that I haven't been rejected." she responds.
He puts his arms around her and hugs her, letting her lean her head against his shoulder.
"I have been rejected so many times that I thought there must be something wrong with me."
"I don't think there is anything wrong with you." He says. "I know you aren't perfect, but I still like you."
He starts caressing her head.
"I like you too, Seonghwa." she says.
Then he breaks the hug, putting his hands on her shoulders, before he plants a kiss on her cheek.
She thinks this must be a dream.
It feels like a dream come true.
Then the goose wakes up from this dream.
She is lying on the bench in the park.
She sees the swans in the lake, but doesn't wish she looked like them anymore.
A/N: BTW "A Love Story In Paris" was just a movie, I made up.
